Review of Sutter Bike Trail

Sutter Bike Trail
Reviewed 12 July 2017

It's a nine mile out and back trail that starts at Hooper Road in Yuba City and takes you to the town of Sutter and then back to Hooper. It's flat, paved, and rarely crowded. No cars and usually owners have their pets are on leash. Within the first half mile on the trail you are out in the country and with beautiful farmland and the Sutter Buttes to view.

You do have to cross three roads that have little traffic, but don't expect drivers to stop for you, they won't.

Friendly people and nice country views. Views of cattle agriculture, flat bike path and quit. Make sure you bring mosquito spray.

If you can get past the dog poop that careless owners don't pick up, and the crap dumped behind peoples' fences in the first mile, then you'll enjoy the smooth, wide, paved path all the way to Sutter. There is little shade on a hot day, so plan accordingly (the oak trees planted west & east of Royo Ranchero won't help much when full grown since the city planted them to the north of the path, but will one day provide nice shade for a rest on the benches the city also put in). The whole path from end to end is about 4.5. If you want to cut out the backyards and opt for the rural feel, park at N. Township instead of Hooper. You lose a little over a mile of the trail, but you get a little more solitude and WAY better views.

Paved trail. Nice people. Great view of the Buttes. 10 mile ride round trip. About 3 hour ride. Just found this. Will be riding weekly.

This is a great biking/walking trail. You will see farmland, small animals (rabbits, foxes, etc.), meet nice people. It's quiet, with shady areas. Walk, jog, ride your bike, or even roller skate. It's paved the entire length.
