We attended a twighlight wedding here in December and thought the venue was wonderful. They have a few different locations on the edge of the vineyard for ceremonies, then a wonderful cocktail hour in their barrel room. Finally, there is a seperate function space for receptions and small gatherings.

Great wines, super people behind the counter. Busy but kind of like being at a happy hour. Fun gifts and great wine club!

So...Wiens put themselves above the rest with their Big Reds and while I think there was a little bit of struggle with quality in the last year or so, it seems the BIG delicious REDS that Wiens was alwasy known for are back! On our most recent visit, I enjoyed the Tempranillo, Sangiovese and the Blends were amazing. They will often give you a barrell tasting of a Premium up and comer. Most recently it was a Bordeaux Blend and was A+++. "Reflections" is one of their red blneds that is a must try (if you love big smooth reds) and you can't leave without a taste of their white port! The tasting room is huge, with high ceiling which is nice if you like to not be crowded and has some nifty wine lover/gourmet gifts for sourveniers/gifts. The grounds are a little austere, but the tables are nice and on hot days there are misters to keep the area cool.

If you love reds, by all means stop in at Wiens for a tasting. You'll also want to try the Amour De L'Orange, their lightly orange-flavored sparkling selection.

This was the first stop on a self-guided tour of wineries in Temecula, which was good because we didn't yet know how nice the area is. This turned out to be our least favorite of the wineries where we did tastings, but we enjoyed it because it was first. Our host, Jakki, was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the history of the winery and wine itself. We started in the mid-afternoon, though, and several of the wines we tasted had turned, leaving an acidic taste in our mouths and an odd odor in our noses. Fresh bottles were opened, but the wines were still inferior to those offered at other area wineries, like the Doffo Winery, Danza del Sol and Robert Renzoni.
