This hotel is less than an hour from Yosemite at a fraction of what the in park hotels charge. We had a large room, with frig and microwave for $120 a night. It also included free breakfast each day at the restaurant next door. The rooms are modern and clean. The staff was friendly and acommodating. Great overall experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the rooms on the back of the property, very nice and quiet.

We recently stayed two nights on our trip to Yosemite NP and quick tour of CA Gold Country and our experience was great. There was snow in the mountains between Sonora and Yosemite and the roads had been closed the previous day. One of the ladies working the front desk had the resources and was willing to use them to get us an up-to-date report that the roads had been open. She did it cheerfully and went beyond the road report and provided additional information on the park that was very helpful. A full breakfast (real) was included in restaurant. You get a choice of one of 5 items on the menu. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The location is good - away from the bustle of downtown Sonora, but a few minutes drive. The first day we had flown in from Chicago and drove from San Francisco. We didn't feel like dinner in a restaurant and ordered a California Chicken Pesto Pizza from Mike's Pizza (about 1 mile away). It was excellent! We will stay here again when we return.

We stayed one night with my wife on our California round trip and we chose Best Western Hotels by name and number of locations. We mainly got very good service and rooms were ok but food was awfull. We still can understand that in breakfast rooms food = plastic but Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel and Conference Center has also a proper restaurant. And since it is also a conference center we though people stay there sometimes longer and must eat there because it is some distance to Sonora restaurants. Menu as such looked good and promising but the food itself was a big disappointment. Cold, unappetizing appearance, tasteless, soggy, all in all bad. We would have gladly paid double the price for a decent meal. We loved Californian food but Best Westerns should look into this matter carefully. With decent food they would be winners for tourists like us.

Room Tip: Eat somewherer else.

I was traveling with my mother last fall and she booked a country inn up the road because the owner assured her the hotel was quiet and away from the road. When we arrived after 9pm we discovered that the other hotel was, in fact, right on the road and the people were so rude and the place was dirty. We called the Best Western and thank goodness they had a room available. The staff was so nice and accommodating and the hotel was clean...and quiet. Breakfast was nice too. So glad the other place didnt work out. We ended up paying for both hotels, but it was worth it because our experience at the Best Western was great. We would have been miserable at the other place. Next time we are traveling near Sonora, we will stay at the Best Western.

Room Tip: Our room was on the back side behind the pool and it was very quiet.

We stayed there because it was the closest to the training class my husband had to attend. When we drove up, we were not impressed at all. Then we got to our room and there was a backdoor/screen door to a beautiful lawn area right outside our door and some basic patio furniture. We have 2 kids under 2 and usually they get stir crazy in a hotel room but this allowed them to go outside and play after a 4 hour drive.

I always judge a hotel by their shampoo and conditioner and they provide Pantene products, which I love.

The breakfast was a great "hotel" breakfast. You get a voucher for the restaurant that is located in the same parking lot. YOu get to choose from 4 selections and then the restaurant gives you a few specials to choose from as well. Much better than the toast and danish/bagels that most hotels offer.

Location is great. It is near most of the historical sites that are in the Gold Country...and if you are a thrift store shopper like me, there is 6 thrift stores in a 2 miles radius of the hotel!

Overall I highly recommend this hotel. Only con I found was the doors needed a little oiling...we could hear everytime our neighbors opened their doors.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the pool
