Ideally located, this is the oldest hotel in town. Room are correct, very clean.
Breakfast is huge and homemade.
Price is a bit high but at the end this is ok.
Swimming pool available.
Place full of hist. Highly recommanded for your stay in sonora or in yosemite if you have only a day to visiT.
You even have a teddy bear on your bed.... And a free parking!

Noisy and old updated rooms. Not modern with some charm. Lots of early morning noise on the street and the area. Check out other options in the area before you stay here unless you like lace, frills and floral prints everywhere.

Room Tip: Not my first choice in this area unless you want a noisy location with an old style room. It is on...

This is actually more like a B & B than a hotel. We had THE upstairs king (facing the front) and it was a spacious room with a nicely updated bathroom. The furnishings consisted of truly elegant antiques which were tastefully arranged. One of the nicest B & B type layouts that we have seen. We got a chance to peek in a couple of the other upstairs rooms and they appeared to be equal in quality. The included breakfast is a fantastic array of baked breads and other goodies which are obviously prepared on the premises. You leave hungry only by your choice. The help is as charming as it helpful and makes you feel very much at home.

HOWEVER, this is an old hotel on the main street of Sonora. About half of the rooms face on that street and you DO NOT want one of them if you expect to get any sleep! Make sure that you get a room that faces to the rear, not the side or front! They would be well served to install new double or triple pane windows, for you would swear the windows that are currently in place are OPEN to the street when you actually have them closed. We will stay here again, but only in a room facing to the rear of the property.

This hotel dates back to the 19th century, and with that in mind it has plenty going for it. I've stayed twice, the rooms vary dramatically in size, be sure to check into what you are getting. The larger rooms are capacious with nice sized bathrooms. Some do not come with desks, so the hotel does not work as well as it might for business. There is wifi, but it does not reach all rooms. The hotel is not very wheel chair friendly, but does have a wheel chair accessible room. Breakfast has hot and cold dishes and a big spread of home made baked goods--it's very tasty. There can be a lot of stair climbing to some rooms. If that is a problem, ask for ground floor room. It will be at the front on the street, but there is not much traffic in Sonora, so noise should not be too much of a problem.

I stayed at the Gunn House Hotel this past weekend. This has been my 4th time here (boyfriend has family here) and it is still a great little hotel. Sonora is a small town and I would say that this place is the best for the price, location and quality.

The bathrooms were clean (they have all the necessary ammenities - hairdryer, iron etc), bed was very comfortable and the people were so nice. The in room heater made us toasty after coming back late (it gets chilly at night during the winter), they had WiFi and a flat screen TV. Each room is a different theme and has a little teddy bear on the bed greeting you (a cute and positive detail). Although an older Inn, it shows that they are doing their best to take care of the guest.

One of the best things about the Gunn House is the breakfast (from 7-10am!). Shirley and her staff make the best pastries and quiche (not as dense but still packs in a bunch of flavor). I had a chocolate raspberry muffin that was SO GOOD. The parlor is comfy and staff makes waffles to order!

I am booked to come back next month. Thanks for the homey stay!

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor facing the pool are the most quiet.
