“Beautiful retreat in the redwoods”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2011

This is a beautiful B&B in the Santa Cruz mountains -- we would definitely stay again. The owners, Sitah and Dale, are very friendly and helpful, and the staff of 2 equally so. We stayed for 5 days and the breakfast was different every day (always a fruit course -- fresh and delicious -- followed by a main course of eggs or pancakes). Great coffee and fresh orange juice topped it off. We stayed in a small room with a loft (where our daughter slept) and had private use of a nice jacuzzi. There is also a larger room upstairs with a long porch and great view. Plus two separate cottages which fellow travelers gave good marks. The place is very dog friendly which is good if you want to bring yours but not so good if you have pet allergies. There is also a meditation grove among the redwoods and a small trampoline that kids will enjoy. The only negative of our stay was that our room was a little bit musty, so you might want to think about that if you have allergies (or consider the upstairs room which seemed to get more ventilation). The B&B is a great location for visiting Santa Cruz itself, the many beaches along the coast, and the Big Basin Redwood Forest. We easily had enough to keep ourselves fully occupied for 5 days in July. All in all, a great place that we would recommend for families or vacationing couples in search of a beautiful quiet spot in the gorgeous Santa Cruz mountains.

My sister, dog Max and I stayed at this paradise in the redwoods near Santa Cruz. Sita and Dale were wonderful hosts: creative, impeccable taste, a darling couple. The West room, the grounds, as well as their business model was designed green in a common sense and thoughtful way. Sustainable living at their B&B included: cloth napkins, eco-friendly cleaning products, manual labor instead of gas-power, an area created for dogs that included scoop and in-ground depository, no plastic on site, energy efficient products, antique furniture, stone and wood throughout, even the matches were sourced responsibly! We can’t wait to return!

This place is a dream. Peaceful, cozy and surrounded by magical redwood trees. And above all, the hosts Dale and Sita are remarkable in their hospitality and kindness. They went above and beyond to make us feel like kings; and they were very loving and accomodating with our 3 year old son. He loved it there too.
Their breakfast is delicious, cooked by Sita with love, and sooo tasty!
Only a 15 mile drive to Santa Cruz, you have the best of both worlds - town and nature- here. This place and the hosts are a keeper. We will be back for sure!

We chose this B&B because we traveled with our dog, and met up with my wife's cousin who also had a dog. I was a little leary about staying here because we booked the Garden Room, which had a double bed and a loft. Since I'm use to sleeping in a king size bed, I was sure that I would end up in the loft. After seeing pictures of the Garden Room ladder access to the loft, I was thinking the worse, especially after reading the dissapointing review by a TA member who said the bed was just a mattress on the floor.
Twenty minutes after we arrived, and after meeting the owners I said to myself, this is a great place. I end up sleeping in the loft, but the mattress was one of those from IKEA
(no box spring needed), and I slept like a baby for the two nights I was there. I did not have any problem with the loft.

Our dog loved the place since the property was totally enclosed by fencing, she roam all over the place instead of being penned up in our room. The owner Sita even treated our dog like her own, spoiling her with steak cube treats. The Garden Room also has a private outdoor spa/hottub and a private patio. And yes, the bathroom is vintage with a water closet and pull chain. Haven't seen many of these, so it was novel. Finding the place is a bit tricky because the Redwood Croft sign blends into the surrounding. For TA members who might stay here in the future, the entrance is the first gate on the right after you turn into Northwest Drive. There is a wooden gate and you'll have to open it yourself before you can drive up to the main house.

We drove up the CA coast for our honeymoon and planned to spend one night in Santa Cruz on our way to San Fran. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, we selected Redwood Croft. At first I did have some difficulty getting through to the hosts to book the reservation, but eventually we were able to connect and I sent them a personal check, as credit card payments are not accepted. The house can be a little difficult to find, and confused our GPS system, but we were thrilled when we finally got there. They had upgraded us to a lovely room with a fireplace, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and a hot tub under the stars, which we also enjoyed. It was a very romantic setting and set about 10-15 minutes away from downtown Santa Cruz, which we didn't mind at all. The hosts were very pleasant, and we felt welcome in their common areas. I have to agree with the previous review though, the open-air bathroom situation and lack of shower were a little disconcerting. The breakfast was absolutely top-notch, the best I have ever had in a bed and breakfast.
