We passed by Wellsford on our way to Paihia to fill up fuel at Caltex. We have one of the best Jester's pie there. We noticed across the road, there is this little shop selling Real Fruits Ice Cream. They are so generous with their blueberries and Strawberries. We came back again to the same shop for it on our way back to Auckland. If you happen to be there before 2pm, dont miss this delicious loaded with real fruits ice cream.

This place has been in Santa Clara for over 20 years and we have been going there ever since 1997. Started off as eggless ice cream place they developed several menus. Chaat, South Indian Menu, North Indian menu, etc.. The family that started is still running this place. Their desserts menu is also awesome with some of the items not to be found anywhere else, eg. Rose petal ice cream, mango ice cream, etc.

Wonderful family!! A must if you are looking for Indian food.

There is not one other place in SFO bay area that makes authentic dosas like Bangalore cafe (which is also known as real Ice cream). The masala dosa is just like what you would eat in Mysore or Bangalore Shanti Sagar or such. I usually ask them not to put chutney powder in it though...BTW, a authentic Mysore masala dosa needs to have red chutney paste and not powder. I know this because I'm from Mysore. Also, the red chutney contrary to how it looks "should not" be hot( spicy but not hot).

The set dosa (also known as kal dosa in other restaurants is very good). The sagu with set dosa is good for half a dosa though. So be proactive and ask for more sagu if you are placing an order-to-go.

Sides: Maddur vadas are just like what you eat at Maddur, Karnataka (a small place between Mysore and Bangalore).

Masala poori: Tastes good but it costs a bit much for pretty much nothing in it. Perhaps, the quantity needs to be increased.

Improvements needed: The guy( I presume the owner) taking the order behind the counter lacks all service skills. No smile, no nothing. If you call in to place an order, he does not even say "thank you" before hanging up. I once called at 11:48 AM and he said he cannot take order as his restaurant does not open until 12:00 PM.

BTW, I go to this place every week.

This gem's been around for a while and wildly popular by those who are familiar with what it serves, but kept secret because unless you know your Mumbai food & Indian connections, you'll have never heard of the place. Yes. Bangalore Cafe is a misnomer because the food is not exactly Bangalore style. It is Mumbai style, complete with Rose petal ice cream, etc. The Indian clients seems to dig the mango ice cream, but mango is the king of the fruit in India. For everyone else, there's other interesting flavors, like the rose petal flavor varieties which can be a bigger discovery in Mumbai. If we back up from desserts, there's more normal food too, albeit all vegetarian. You might need a tour guide to help you if you don't know what it is.

This looks like an ice cream shop. It has its share of tasty indian food and snacks. Not a wide variety of food available but it is quite good.
