“An Oasis in Santa Barbara”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

We stayed 4 nights during a 3 week trip around USA and were looking forward to a relaxing stay in Santa Barbara after visiting 3 cities and a busy schedule. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly - old fashioned, comfortable, friendly with great rooms and a lovely pool and spa. The breakfasts were great and it was lovely to get back in at tea time and relax with a glass of wime and cheese and biscuits. The hotel also provided milk and cookies later on. All the food and drink was complimentary, and we just clicked into this very relaxed routine. We loved it!

Room Tip: They all seemed good.

The Inn by the Harbor was our third hotel on the way down to LA. We were staying for two nights, arriving at about 7pm. Check in was really good. Frank (I hope I remember his name correctly) was on hand explaining the hotel facilities and really making us feel welcome.

Inn by the Harbor is what I would always imagine a motel to be like. We stayed in ground floor rooms which opened straight onto the car park. Really nice, clean rooms, with sliding doors out into the garden. There is also a pool but when we got there the weather changed and it rained like I never thoght it would do in California!

The hotel is in a good spot. On the first night we asked Frank whether we could walk into the town, heading for State Street. It was a little nervy as we had only arrived half an hour earlier and we were walking through an unfamilar neighbourhood towards the walkway which took you under a bridge and then up some steps and you were right onto the main street with so many bars and resturants. I would suggest getting a taxi at night into town and doing the walk during the day. It's a safe neighbourhood but with us being new to town we were on our guard!

In summary, a great hotel, perfect for short stays and longer if you wanted. Close to State Street and all Santa Barbara has to offer!

Stayed here for a long weekend while attending a wedding. This might be the perfect location if you're looking for an affordable, adorable location. Rooms were simple but nice, the pool is very cute, clean and perfect. Location is ideal, close to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Staying at a hotel on the beach would run you at least $300 more a night and this was so much better. Staff was very helpful, they recommended great restaurants and were all around friendly. Breakfast was great, wine and cheese were delicious, we missed cookies and milk but I bet they were delish. HIGHLY recommend.

Room Tip: Try to get a room leading out to the pool, its worth the extra money.

unfortunately we only spent 1 night on our drive through California at the Inn but we classed it as 1 of our favourite, the room was clean , comfortable and well presented. The staff were always smiling. The cheese and wine at 4.30 was special to be followed by cookies awesome!!!! If you are in the area Highly recommend it

We stayed here at the end of March as part of a 2 week trip through coastal California. The Inn by the Harbor was easily my favourite hotel of the whole trip. The room was clean, comfy and homely, the staff were very friendly, and the location was great. The breakfast was ample, and the extras such as the wine and cheese reception just added to the convivial atmosphere of the place. I would have loved to have stayed longer- we will definitely be back! You will not regret staying here- I think some of the larger hotels we stayed at could learn a great deal about hospitality from these guys.
