Just ordered my previously beloved celebrated Pud Thai and learned that no dish here is now or going forward going to be served with a fresh lime wedge. The people cooking here are slamming out the dishes for a public aroused by a reputation for gourmet Thai that is sadly approaching "undeserved" status. The aromatic richness of a squeezed lime wedge is a signature part of this dish in Thai cooking in particular and a lime a well loved accompaniment to many especially shrimp dishes. Being handed a squirt bottle of lime juice, no taste except "sour", just does not do it. The aromatic oils and just the right touch of full flavor is what is missed. Is in the nose too.
To the chefs: If you cannot afford fresh limes, just a small quarter lime, to accompany a traditional dish, you should not charge these prices at your walk up counter. The lowliest street vendor in Thailand has lime wedges for every patron, and for Pud Thai, most especially . Disappointed!!

Hello Sharon

First of all I want to thank you for coming into Empty Bowl Gourmet Noodle Bar and supporting Santa Barbara small business. I apologize for your poor experience you had with the pad thai noodles. Empty Bowl standard is for our customers to have the freshest ingredients, highest level of service, and leaving satisfied. That being said we have been using fresh lime since we opened 3 years ago. We fresh squeeze cases of limes weekly for all dishes that uses fresh lime. If you wish to visit again please I will fresh cut a lime wedge for your pad Thai.

Thank you very much hopefully you will revisit us again.

We had two meals at Empty Bowl within the Marketplace. For the first visit, we sat at the bar and enjoyed Pad See Ew and Bangkok Street Noodles. The former was slightly sweeter than others I've had, but the Street Noodles are something special. This is what brought us back the next day.
Service is relatively quick but know they are preparing the meals as ordered. Enjoyed watching them all work.
Quality is very high and it shines in through in the meals!
The staff are awesome and highly attentive.

We were in search of our favorite coffee (Green Star) and found it was sold at the Santa Barbara Public Market. After buying both Italian and French Roast beans to take home we had a ‘squirrel’ moment as we smelled the aroma of delicious soup coming from the Empty Bowl. We were fortunate enough to find two seats at the bar and we ordered the Long Tail Boat Noodle and the Pan Fried Pancit Noodle - both delicious! The portions are large so we had leftovers and we mixed them together. Crazy good food! But don’t forget coffee at Green Star! We will be regulars here even though we live 30 minutes away.

We attended the SBPD’s, “Fun with The Force” event ant Pat Nesbitt’s Bella Vista estate. Empty Bowl Gourmet Noodle Bar was one of the vendors offering fabulous noodles. They were absolutely delicious. Everything was very fresh and nicely flavored. It’s nice to find out about this little gem. We’re looking forward in popping in for a bite or two.

We've eaten here the last 2 times we've been to Santa Barbara - the food is really good. Take out is available and it gets very busy here, but it's worth a wait at the bar. The staff work really well together - it's fun to see so many people navigate a relatively small place and keep the orders coming out!
