Just ordered my previously beloved celebrated Pud Thai and learned that no dish here is now or going forward going to be served with a fresh lime wedge. The people cooking here are slamming out the dishes for a public aroused by a reputation for gourmet Thai that is sadly approaching "undeserved" status. The aromatic richness of a squeezed lime wedge is a signature part of this dish in Thai cooking in particular and a lime a well loved accompaniment to many especially shrimp dishes. Being handed a squirt bottle of lime juice, no taste except "sour", just does not do it. The aromatic oils and just the right touch of full flavor is what is missed. Is in the nose too.
To the chefs: If you cannot afford fresh limes, just a small quarter lime, to accompany a traditional dish, you should not charge these prices at your walk up counter. The lowliest street vendor in Thailand has lime wedges for every patron, and for Pud Thai, most especially . Disappointed!!
