I came here annually for a beginning of the school year staff/teacher retreat dinner. (We stayed nearby Montecito at a beautiful but basic retreat center) and this restaurant was one of the highlights of our 2 day trip. There is a main dining room with patio seating, and a private room with a large, long ,rectangular table - seats at least 20+. It's a wine themed room in a modern adobe style - corks and bottles. And the wine is local and good. The food is superb, for over 20 years, I can say that. The owner always stopped in to say hello and made sure he had chosen a good red and white wine to go with our fish or steak or vegetarian meal. I usually ordered fish or steak & was never disappointed. Tastefully prepared and just as I wanted it cooked. Appetizers were great and the desserts were just perfect (usually a dense chocolate dessert and a fruit tart offered). Last week, I was in town with my daughter and we ate in the "regular" dining room; service was good - not great, most likely because they were busy Saturday evening. We had a lovely meal (open for dinner only) and I would still return, although I missed the private room ambiance & service :) This place is always packed and so worth it!
