My husband and I travelled up the Coast in Oct for both work and pleasure. We stayed one night at Spanish Garden Inn a truly amazing experience. The room was beautiful, clean and cozy. The staff at the Spanish Garden are very friendly and helpful. If you are new to the area I recommend you ask for restaurants choices very knowledgable. f The breakfast was more than expected. It's a very relax and friendly. We will be back.

We have stayed in different hotels all over Santa Barbara over the years. All were good, some were the top-rated — Four Seasons, Bacara, Belmond El Encanto. No problems with those, but there is something special about the Spanish Garden Inn. From the time we stepped in, we just felt a prevailing calm. The entire property is beautiful in the charming, classic Spanish way. It’s small, which we prefer, unique, but has all the amenities we’d want, including a bountiful buffet breakfast served (complimentary) until 10:30 am. Underground parking and fast WiFi are also included. There is a nice pool and the grounds are lovely and cared for very well. We booked a junior suite which was very comfortable with a fairly private outside patio. Our only (small) issue was that the living part of the suite needs another lamp. The two armchairs with an ottoman to share were very comfortable. There was also a beautiful desk and more seating. Great bed (down pillows were brought on request); well-functioning bath with tub and separate shower; adequate storage. All toiletries were Molten Brown. It was unseasonably warm for February and we didn’t think the a/c was as effective as it should have been, but we didn’t ask for an adjustment either, so can’t really complain. And we happen to love very cold bedrooms at night, probably moreso than 90% of the population. The location in the Presidio neighborhood is just a few blocks from downtown and near many good restaurants. We tried nearby Jill’s Place, where we’d never been — very casual and excellent. The access to 101 is great — in about 10 minutes we were at Lucky’s in Montecito (an old favorite steakhouse), just the second day they were open following a month or more of being closed due to the horrible floods and landslides. All in all, we loved this hotel and felt extremely welcome and comforteble there. It will now be our go-to place to stay in Santa Barbara. Thank you to the staff of the Spanish Garden Inn!

Room Tip: Upstairs offers more privacy, but downstairs is good, too. And there is no elevator.

It is so wonderful to read your warm words for our hotel and our team. We are so glad that you discovered that "something special" about Spanish Garden Inn which makes us unique. We like to think it is this beautiful combination of architecture&design created by our hotel owners, thoughtful amenities, our staff who enjoys what they do every day, and our guests like you who can "smell it in the air".
We can't wait to welcome you back.

A guest should not have to make a special request for items such as toilet paper and bottled water to be restocked. We stayed for 6 nights and the maid service never did seem to understand our reasonable expectations which we conveyed to the front desk.

Other than that, we loved the superior room, the staff, the amazing breakfast buffet and the pool. As an early riser, I wish the breakfast opened at 7 am rather than 7:30 am but I can understand why they might prefer the later hour.

The Inn is quiet and yet it is only a short walk to State Street. The Downtown shuttle and the waterfront shuttle are a very convenient way to get around. The hotel is very attractive and there was an elevator to our room in the section above the lobby.

Room Tip: Room 3 overlooked the courtyard and was quiet.

We rented a junior suite for my wife's birthday get away. The accommodations
and staff could not have been nicer. It is clean, quiet, close to many very good restaurants, in a word "convenient". The breakfast was excellent. We will definitely try to stay there again if we get back to Santa Barbara. There were several families staying that were displaced by the Montecito mud slide. The Inn was very accommodating to them also.

Room Tip: The junior suite with the fireplace is very nice.

Wanted to try something different in Santa Barbara and found the Spanish Garden Inn. This was a great find. A great location, within a couple of blocks of State Street, and close to many other shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and have balconies and fireplaces. Not many rooms, but really very nice. The staff is also great. We did have an issue when we arrived. We had reserved and confirmed a Junior Suite category room, but when we arrived, that was not available and we got a King room. While we were a bit upset by this unilateral change in category, they had a pretty good reason. Due to the recent horrific and devastating mudslides and floods, evacuated locals had checked in, but could not get back to their own residences, so were still checked in. The hotel adjusted our room rate, as appropriate.
