You pay a premium to stay in or near downtown Santa Barbara. The Presidio Motel is a standard motel within reasonable walking distance of the lower end of State Street. The room, which featured a HD TV with lots of channels, free Wi-Fi, fridge and AC but no safe, was quite noisy. The staff were welcoming and friendly. There’s an IHOP just across the road which was great for breakfast.

Great rooms, spatious, high cellings, big bathrooms, great bedding, great location. Staff is super friendly. Free of charge bike rentals, a must in santa barbara since this city is hyper cycling friendly. Annoying fact is a total shut down of staff presence between 10pm and 8am. And also, when it comes to housekeeping, watch for your belongings, just saying...

Very small office but check in was ok. No elevator so had to carry suitcases upstairs. Nice deck area for sunbathers. Room was basic but a good size. No coffee or breakfast so overall a little disappointing and overpriced.

We booked this hotel last minute and phoned from a bar to book for that evening once we had arrived at Santa Barbara. Michael was so friendly and helpful over the phone and reserved us a room straight away. On check in he was equally as pleasant and he even upgraded us to a larger room! The room was spotless and nicely decorated. The bed was super comfortable as well!

You can also help yourself to complimentary tea, coffee and water in reception!

The best part was that you could hire bikes free of charge! The hotel is ideally located at the top end of the main high street in Santa Barbara, so it’s only a short walk along one road to bars/restaurants and you can cycle straight down all the way to the harbour!

Would definitely recommend staying here and it’s such great value for money!

The Presdio Motel is the perfect base for exploring beautiful Santa Barbara. The room is basic, but fine, and the beds are very comfortable. Great value for money. Free bikes are a nice touch, make sure you ask about the brakes before you set off! Reception staff helpful and knowledgeable.
