“Don't even think about it”

First of all SUITES, should not even be included in their name, what it is is a cheap motel with tiny rooms. They said I will get a garden view room. They dont even have a garden only bushes around the pool. I took my two children with me, there was no way I coud have stayed there so I paid for a service that I was not even provided. Manager refused to rufund my payment, I feft any way. I found another HOTEL, which I pay only a few more dollars for a nice room in a very nice location.

Room Tip: do yourself a favor and never stay here

Well, I just returned from a weekend trip in Santa Barbara & stay at the Oasis Inn & Suites. Not bad!! Okay, let me start off by saying that this is a motel - and its layout is just that. For you travelers that are looking for a secluded hideaway, please look elsewhere. This place is an economical option for those travelers seeking a good value without high expectations. I will give everyone a synopsis of the "good" and "not so good" for this property. Here we go:

Good: The property is well-maintained with a very cute garden setting near the pool area. There are a few tables for snacking or just enjoying coffee in the garden. The pool is very large in comparison to the property - I was quite surprised that it was very clean and bright blue. The pool is also located in the middle of the property and well hidden by nicely trimmed bushes/trees so motorists or pedestrians can't peek at the sunbathers. There are a few palm trees (one lights up at night creating a nice touch) and there are other well-maintained flowers and plants in the vicinity that bring some life to the property. Nothing extravagant so don't expect daisys or orchids, but just nice. There is an arch way for tenants who enter the garden/pool area from the parking which is also decorated with lights at night. This architecture was a nice touch creating a "hacienda" look to the motel. I stayed in one of the garden rooms which have no 2nd floors (good for those seeking more quiet - no foot stomping from 2nd floor tenants). There is another two-story building adjacent to the garden/pool area which appears to be part of the Oasis. I noticed there were some party-goers at the 2 story building, something you'd expect from a budget motel. Fortunately, the 2 story building is separated by another parking lot which keeps some distance for tenants in the garden area. The advantage of this motel's location is that you have several stores, markets and restaurants (Gelson's market, BevMo, El Maestro 42 within walking distance).
The room we stayed at was very clean and it appeared to have been remodeled recently. There was a 32 inch flat screen with limited cable channels (although there was 1 HBO channel). There was small refirgerator and microwave in the room with plastic coffe cups - there is also coffee and continental breakfast in the office in the morning (we didn't try it). The best part of our stay was the $$ we paid - $85 a night (online discount under Oasis Inn's website). Not bad for Santa Barbara.

Not so good: This property is located on a busy street (State Street) so there is alot of traffic noise (although it didn't seem to bother my wife and I much). Those who are not used to sleeping with traffic in the background may have an issue with this. The room we stayed in (not a suite) was clean but very tiny. This didn't really bother my wife and I as our expecations were very low before we arrived. Those of you seeking lots more room may opt for a suite (which is approx. $20 more). The shower was TINY - you literally had to be careful not to bump your elbows inside the nicely tiled shower. The bed was a king - I'd give it a 6 out of 10 for comfort (bearable but not very comfortable). The pillows could have been more comfortable (some are too puffy and others are too flat). I highly recommend you bring your own pillows!!!

Restaurants: I highly recommend the "Boat House" in Hendry's Beach (also known as Arroyo Burro Beach). It's pretty close the Oasis (take the short cut on Las Positas Road near Gelson's) - it leads you all the way to Cliff Dr., make a right and it's on your left side where it says "Arroyo Burro Beach". We loved the Ciopino dish (my wife and I thought it was tasty). Note: This is the only restaurant on the beach - you can see the sunset but don't expect to have a clear view of the sunset as it is to the right. We stayed outside and had a hard time seeing it (maybe inside diners can get a better view). There's an IHOP near the motel too if you want to eat breakfast under a limited budget.

The bottom line is that Santa Barbara is very expensive. For those seeking a great deal with not so high expectations should strongly consider the Oasis. We did and we were happy with our decision. We used the extra $$$ to splurge on shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: If you have more than two people, I recommend you rent a suite.

Stayed in room 20 for a night. Very good quality, yes a little run down and dated but for $100 a night in Santa Barbara the deal can't be beat. Bed was king, firm but comfortable and all the fixtures were in good working order. Didn't try the breakfast. Recommend a top floor room if you can't handle footfalls and bring a paper clip or hair clip to hold the curtains together for a good nights rest. Otherwise place was great for the price.

Room Tip: Go with a top floor room if you can.

True it's not easy to find a reasonably priced room in Santa Barbara, the Oasis is one of the few in SB. Service is just so so, room clean, bathroom pretty basic though you can't expect a lot for the price. Iin most areas this place is average but I give this place a poor rating because breakfast is a real let down, it's a limited takeaway(coffee, juice, muffins) from some shelves beside the receptionists desk. Come on guys, you can't be serious!

ps if you do choose the Oasis, there is a great Italian restaurant across the road, reasonably priced.

We stayed at this hotel in Santa Barbara and loved it. We had been looking for something more reasonably priced, and this one was the lowest by far...and we were a bit worried. But when we pulled up, we were pleasantly surprised! It was very quaint and clean and they even had a little continental breakfast that was fairly good (they had fruit cups!)

If you are looking for great value for budget, then this place is it!
