We’d stayed in Santa Barbara before, at two other hotels, but this was our first stay at the Santa Barbara Hotel.
What a find. It’s the best located hotel in Santa Barbara’s main street. The rooms are typically small, very clean, well maintained, nicely decorated and uplifting. Nothing comes cheap in Santa Barbara so at $199 USD FOR a Queen bed room, it was good value.
Breakfast is thrown in for free and to be honest, it’s so basic, we wouldn’t have paid for if required. Tea, coffee, oats (sugary), cereal, yoghurt, Danish parties, whole apples & pears, one or two bananaswere provided over the 4 days we stayed. Not ideally located either in the foyer/ corridor. But we figured it was good of them to have a go, and let’s face it- Americans do breakfast quite differently to Aussies. The whole stay was so good, we didn’t worry about breakfast.
Before arriving, We’d read so much about the hotel elevator, a lot of it negative, that we were worried about what we were going to find. Needn’t have worried. The elevator was old but very well maintained and quite fun.
Valet service was good too with parking out the back.
Having passed on the previous two hotels we’d stayed at in Santa Barbara, will definitely stay here next time.More
