“I love Santa Barbara”
Reviewed 14 April 2012

The Eagle Inn is just as lovely as it sounds. Stayed in a cottage out back; very nice, very quiet. Wonderful breakfast brought to your room each morning. Beautiful grounds. You really cannot beat the location; we walked and used the hotel bikes that are available to go everywhere. Make sure you bike down to the bird preserve - it's a lovely ride. The shuttle takes you down to Slate Street although if you take the back way by the Amtrak station it is easy walking distance. I LOVED SANTA BARBARA! Go see the courthouse, it's beautiful. Go to the Maritime Museum, also worth it. Wonderful food and a fantastic growers market on Slate Street on Wednesday. The Eagle Inn is one of the best places for the money!

Room Tip: If you can afford it, get a cottage!

We recently went to the Eagle Inn for a quick getaway and stayed in the San Nicholas room and it was absolutely and wonderfully romantic and cozy --and very private with no one above us, below us and only one neighbor separated by a beautifully decorated hallway. The large in room tub was soothing, the fireplace was nice and the balcony was a great bonus. The room was clean and comfortable as was the bed. The shower was perfect for two with overhead showerheads.

A quick walk to the beach each day was rejuvenating, the staff were excellent and the food was pretty good. Others used the bicycles to explore town. Parking was free. It was fabulous but don't tell anybody else though, I really want it to be available when I return. Don't tell them that they undercharge for the experience!

Room Tip: Loved that the room was detached from the inn.

Went here for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The room was better than we hoped. It was our first time in Santa Barbara and we were referred to the Eagle Inn by some friends of ours. We stayed in the Saint Nicholas room and it was wonderful. Better than we expected. Normally you see a photo of a room online and you don't get anything close to that. With this room our expectations were exceeded. Check in was very easy, room was clean and very cozy with the fireplace and the in room tub. Bob helped us with a place to eat Brophy Bros right on the bay and it was really good, seemed like a local place. Our breakfast was just a tad late, but well worth the wait. It was KILLER! The quiche thing was wonderful. We will be sure to stay again when we come to Santa Barbara next year. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay.

On the spur of the moment, I decided to take a drive to Santa Barbara from Glendale to see 2 museum exhibits and enjoy the beach. I called the Eagle Inn and got a reservation for a great price and considered myself lucky that they had a room available during Easter Week. Again my expectations were exceeded in every way. They are in such a charming neighborhood, their service is excellent, and I parked my car in their convenient lot next door and walked everywhere until I checked out. Their breakfast has changed a bit since my last visit and is actually brought to you (as opposed to buffet) in the cute breakfast room. Since my room was next door, they brought it to me in my room--heaven!- and it was delicious--fresh fruit, orange juice and an amazing hashed eggs dish. I spent about 1 1/2 hours at the beach (2 block walk) and then visited the SB Historical Museum for their Flying A Silent Film Exhibit and shopped DT. My room was perfect for 1 or 2, charming and chic, building has great architecture and relaxing environment. 2 great days that were good for my soul--Thanks again!

We loved everything about our stay here. The inn itself is lovely. Great staff, good healthy breakfast and a fabulous location. The neighborhood is quiet and interesting to take a walk in and the waterfront is just a few blocks away. Also, the inn offeres bikes which for us is the best amenitiy of all. Santa Barbara is perfectly suited for biking and for three days we never got into our car. The only thing the inn lacks is a patio area that you can walk out onto right from the inn. There is an area off the parking lot that does not look too inviting and a small sitting are near the garage but many of the rooms do have balconies so if you are lucky enough to get this than its probably not an issue. We saw many places to stay in Santa Barbara but nothing looked better than the Eagle Inn.

Room Tip: From the looks of things the only room that looked like it would be noisy is the one next to the bre...
