Last night my girlfriend and I ate there. Except for limited parking, we loved everything! We shared a slab of Baby back ribs. Highly recommend. Very juicy and the sauce they put on the side was as good as the sauce that came on the ribs. She loved the side of mushrooms. Good salads, garlic bread and baked potato.

Having been around for 55+ years! In the same building! I expected Henry's to be a dive! It is a wonderful dive with lots of great personality and wonderful food! It is a carnivore's heaven!! Prime rib, pork chops, filet mignon, sirloin steak, baby back ribs.....Each entree is served with a baked potato and salad and garlic bread. There are many choices of beer, both bottled and on tap, plus killer margaritas!!
We were there before a hockey game, and the place was packed! But, the very efficient
staff was able to serve the massive crowd and get them out in time for the game (which was just a few blocks away!)
The only drawback was the incredible noise level; once I got used to it I saw how it was the excitement of the night's game and the great restaurant . I want to return on a night without a game scheduled; but, I'd go back again on a game night, too!

I visited Henry's again after about a decade away, and the atmosphere, food, and service remain wonderful.

To be honest, the atmosphere is what is most compelling about this San Jose landmark. It's in a category with Original Joes when it comes to grasping a glimpse of old San Jose. The simple wooden menu on the wall, the efficient and friendly ordering system, the cozy bar/waiting area, and the warm, comfortable dining area with its inexplicably wonderful green picket fence wainscot all are part of the experience.

But the food is very, very good, especially for the prince. The $25 weekend special prime rib that my partner ordered was as good as the prime rib he had at a twice as expensive steak house two weeks earlier. My New York steak was equally very good... Also just around the $25 price point.

Next time I've got to order the ribs. Whoa! Huge!

Order a side of mushrooms -- the portion is large enough for two to four people.

The building is the attraction here. A very old, long-time food venue in San Jose. The BBQ food is good, but not exceptional. The salad that comes with your food is basic iceberg lettuce with ordinary dressing. But that's not the point here. It's tradition. You take a number when you come in, then order your food off a board in the active bar area. So, when you number is called, your salads are on the table and the entrees are being prepared.

Stopped here for lunch, to take advantage of the New Year's break from the office.

Unlike the evening dinner routine there's a couple of changes. Firstly, menus on the tables, instead of the somewhat quirky "order from the billboard while standing in the bar"

Secondly, the food options are set for lunch; but you still have your choice of Steaks, BBQ, Ribs, etc. Kids at the adjacent table (a holiday family party of nearly twenty) got giant hamburgers.

Another quirky thing? No French Fries. However, the oven backed potato more than makes up for it. All the portions are hearty and this really is a meat-lover's paradise!

Perhaps I'm a bit biased; Henry's is just walking distance from home. Have I died and gone to BBQ heaven..?
