As a treat for my birthday while in San Jose, CA, three of us went to Le Papillion for dinner. My brother suggested sports coat as appropriate attire. This is an elegant yet comfortable restaurant of fine dining. The appetizers, linguine and prawns and pan seared scallops were delightful as was the salad/soup course of the pear salad and Salsify soup...first experience for me of this earthy and hearty soup. The main courses included Beef Tenderloin and Pork Tenderloin...wonderful!
Desserts included Fresh Berries Corbeille and a pre-order of Soufflé Gran Manier. Plus delicious coffee.
Edgar, our waiter, provided excellent service. Realizing it was my birthday, my dessert included a discreet little candle, no singing..!
The three of us continued for 2 days to speak of the warm and comfortable experience of this fine restaurant.
