Description: Marinitas features a menu inspired by dishes found throughout Mexico and Latin America using local and seasonal products. Through the collaboration of Heidi Krahling and Frank Villa, Marinitas delivers Latin focused lusciousness that is an exciting blend of the new and the familiar. The wine list mainly draws from the expansive selections of the best wine makers from Argentina and Chile. Cocktails focus on the silver and gold liquors of Central and South America. The bar is dedicated to classic cocktail preparations including citrus juice squeezed to order, house made sweet and sour made from unrefined cane sugars, along with the highest quality mixers. Beers include a full Mexican selection from light Lagers to dark regional Latin micro-brewed Ales.

Four of us dined at Las Maranitas in San Anselmo last night, and a great time was had by all, thanks to their world-class margaritas and the first-rate Mexican food. The fact that they have a great attitude is also a welcome bonus. And if you try one of their desserts, you'll be glad you left room for it.

Really delicious food and great bar; margs are excellent. Pricier (is that a word?) than most but the food is way above average. No globbiness in sight.

Mistake #1: showing up at 7pm on a Saturday when there was a social function. But the hostess, after warning us it might be up to 45 minutes to wait, found us a cozy table in the bar area after only 10 minutes! Mistake #2: not having a second stomach. THIS is guacamole! This was the best guac I've had ever. Creamy, tangy, slightly chunky. Great chips, two types of salsa. Really great veg crispy tacos. Something called a Paloma with fresh grapefruit juice. YUM! The only drawback, and it's not the restaurant's fault, a group of people from a local conference who squeezed 15 people into an area meant for 10. Honestly, I'm ready to come back, though. I'll come earlier in the day and skip breakfast and lunch so I can eat more. Jon was an excellent server. Kudos to him and the other servers for not losing it with the literally pushy patrons.

We stopped in for what ended being a late lunch after completing some work in the area. Most of the menu isn't served after 2:30 so that left us with about six selections. I had the carne asada tacos. There were two on the plate and they were very good. Rice and beans cost extra.

They claim to make their own margarita mix and definitely charge for it.

If you are looking for an upscale Mexican restaurant with the price that goes with it, I invite you check out Las Marinitas.

Good bar scene, also a great place for lunch or dinner. Wonderful appetizers -- especially the trio of ceviches. I prefer the dinner menu -- more options. They have all the usual Mexican dishes, along with favorites from other countries. The Argentine steak is my personal favorite.
