So nice to find something a little different! My room was comfortable - the bed was great - and it was fun to be able to stay somewhere with some history and character. I was at a convention at a nearby hotel and for Old Sacramento and the downtown area this is a good location - I was able to walk everywhere within 10-15 minutes. Friendly and helpful staff and the bar and grill at one end of the boat is a good option to eat. Also had an Irish band playing one night. It’s true the rooms are small but hey - it’s an old paddle wheeler! Will definitely return here.

There is nothing about the Delta King that I don't like, from the uneven decks, to the quaint bathrooms with original fixtures from decades ago, to the fantastic onboard restaurant, this riverboat hotel needs to be experienced at least once. I have probably stayed at the Delta King over 10 times in the last 18 months and its my "go to" place when I have state business or the nearby hotels are double the price.
Granted, you have to realize where your are staying and that it may not be for everyone, but I just love it. The location is terrific, just feet from Old Sacramento and Tower Bridge, the Delta King is a unique experience in this riverboat turned hotel. The rooms are modest but very comfortable and you need to try the restaurant which is exceptional, including the breakfast that comes with the room in many of the rates.
If you don't need a pool or extravagant amenities but enjoy sitting on a boat deck overlooking the river having a cocktail in a serene and tranquil atmosphere, this distinctive hotel is for you.

A lot of history at this place. Some still lingers. LOL Interesting to see how people navigated travel in the early 1900s. Originally reserved a room on the "Riverside" of the hotel. In keeping with the original décor, room was rather small for our taste and somewhat dismal and dusty. Felt haunted if there is such a thing. Lighting on the outside was deem and poorly lit. Staff was nice when we requested and received different accommodations which were much better and did not have that spooky feel to it. The restaurant was nice too and the food good. Overall, a good experience.

Room Tip: All I can say is, do not get a "standard" room. I'm assuming they all are small cabins and not very roomy or comfortable. Upgrade!

The Delta King Hotel is a great place to stay, dine and for events. It is a renovated 1927, stern wheel, river boat, in service from 1927 until the end of WW II, it is no longer operable, but has been lovingly restored and opulent. The state rooms are surprisingly spacious, although the ceilings are low. A fun place to stay, the restaurant is excellent. Breakfast (included) is fresh and a wonderful start to the day. They also have many delightful banquet, dining and meeting rooms. If you don't stay, visit for a meal or cocktails, it is worth the trip. We loved the place and would stay here again.

Room Tip: A room on the river side is quieter and serene. Corner rooms are very slightly more expensive, but larger and well worth it!

The novelty of this place (“I’m staying on a riverboat”) wore off within 5 minutes. Was it the front desk staff who unapologetically told me my room wasn’t ready, 1 3/4 hours after guaranteed check-in time? Was it the ceilings in the room that my head bumped? Was it the trashy people populating the hotel and the surrounding neighborhood? Or maybe it was showing up to breakfast to find no staff there. No, I think it was the crappy shower with horrendous water pressure. No, on second thought, what really sealed the deal was the noisy rooms. If you want to hear every duck fart and want no light blockout at all, this is your place.
