My wife is a new to golf (3months) and was looking for course with some par 4s. We decided on The Express 9 and generally had a good experience. There were two issues we did come across. There are numerous unrepaired divots on almost the par 3 greens. The 5th teebox was being watered when we got to that hole and we had to wait for the sprinklers to turn off to tee off, and most of the bunkers are mudholes due to them being watered over so much that they have standing puddles in them. Despite these three things, the course was in generally good shape, and offers two par4s and a couple of longer par3s mixed-in, which gives it a nice variety. Final verdict is it is affordable, not crowded and we will return to play here again.

As a regular golfer I enjoy playing many different golf courses. Recently, my group decided to play Bing Maloney as it was close to our choice of dining. I grew up in South Sacramento and remember playing this course in the 70's and 80's enjoying the lush fairways and majestic trees. Sadly this course is now in very poor condition. The tee boxes are undulated and unkempt, the fairways are littered with gopher holes and weeds, the rough is very overgrown weeds with many dying trees, and the greens also needed work. This was once a lovely walk in the park. Our group will not be returning for another round.

Bing is in my steady rotation of golf courses. It offers a good value round of golf. Nothing fancy here. A solid, old school layout with tree lined fairways. Not terribly long (6500 yards from the blue tees) and the greens are pretty straightforward. The trees are present but a hook or a slice off the tee won't usually put you in jail. Recovery shots are usually available. The course is typically well maintained by municipal standards. Greens are suitably smooth, but tend to roll a little slow. Pace of play is quite good (figure 4 hour round during the week and 4:30 on the weekend). There is a driving range for warm-up. The course is right next to Executive Airport (only general aviation, no commercial service) so you will have the occasional private plane fly overhead.

There is also an executive 9 hole course available for kids and beginners.

The course is in terrible conditions. Fairways haven't been mowed-muddy spots-bare spots and no roll. Need to marshal the course and pull players who are slowing the pace down. Had to wait on every hole. Made for a ugly round. Only thing good about it was it was a beautiful day - weather wise

Very nice 18 hole golf course in Sacramento. Built in 1952 it has an old school feel with many trees and a vintage looking club house and restaurant. Many good holes, except #12 ( the big tree in the middle of the fairway needs to be removed). The greens and fairways are usually in nice condition. Very reasonable prices, only $22 to walk, with a play card!! Love the restaurant, the chef is very good, food is terrific and the people are very friendly. Even if you are a low handicap, come play the blue tees, you'll have a good time!
