A must see while in Sacramento. The art is always changing. It's close to Old Sacramento and the State Capitol.

“Fine Art and Fine Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

As a resident of Sacramento I am thrilled to have a top-notch art museum in our city. I've always enjoyed visiting the Crocker for various events and exhibits, but the new facility really takes the museum up several notches as an attraction. Many visitors to the area come for the Gold Rush history (and the Crocker family is definitely part of that too) but tend to stay in Old Sacramento and maybe visit the California Railroad Museum but not much else in town. Do venture down a little further and stop at the Crocker Art Museum for an added dose of culture. The art is well displayed and interesting rotating and traveling exhibits make for rewarding repeat visits. Concerts and other presentations add to the experience, plus there is a delightful cafe for a quick bite. Charming museum shop is also a favorite place to buy jewelry and educational toys and gifts. In addition to the American and European art of the previous centuries, ethnographic and Asian art round out the collections. The contemporary art works are some of the most fun to view with friends and family and sure to spark discussion.

“Excellent and Well Presented Art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

The contrast between the gorgeous museum mansion and the new, very contemporary museum structure uniquely works. I was very surprised and pleased. The collections and featured exhibitions are nicely and spaciously presented, and the spaces flow. Despite a Sunday crowd, the building is large enough to handle the seeming masses.

One recommendation: If you plan to go on Sunday, arrive early for a good chance at free street parking, and a leisurely viewing.

“Not elaborate”

the musium is not that big. You can see it in 20 min. I went there because they hosted jazz concerts in the summer in their patio area. Taken together with the concert it was a good trip. I would not make the trip there just to see the musium.
