Description: Nestled in the heart of the historic and charming village of Rancho Santa Fe, just four miles inland from Del Mar, Mille Fleurs offers magnificent food presentation with extraordinary French flair. The exquisite yet comfortable French country decor with inviting outside patio provides an atmosphere that is gracious, warm and welcoming. Mille Fleurs has received numerous accolades including: "Top 25 in America" from Food & Wine Magazine "Far and away the best restaurant sampled in greater San Diego" quoted in The New York Times as well as "Best French" and "Best of the Best" in San Diego Magazine. Our award winning wine cellar offers over seven hundred choices spanning the globe and varying greatly in price. A mile down the road is the Chino's Family Farm where our chef heads every day to select the choicest fruits and vegetables.

Thanks to the Hug Family, Chef Woesle and his kitchen staff plus the exceptionally well-trained and attentive dining room team, Mille Fleurs consistently delights their diners with beautifully crafted, expertly prepared food. The menu changes according to the season and availability of ingredients. Many of their vegetables are locally sourced from Chino Farms. The quality of the ingredients speaks volumes and the preparation highlights the taste. The assembly of each dish is carefully crafted and balanced. Regulars and occasional diners are all treated like royalty. The wine list is extensive, too! Special note to diners that the lobster bisque has great intensity of flavor. The filet and schnitzel are consistently exceptional choices. The sea scallops arrived perfectly seared. Check out the interesting side dishes, too, such as the Bavarian pretzel with tangy dijon mustard!

Milles Fleurs has it all: a more casual bistro-like setting with piano entertainment, outdoor dining in a beautiful patio area, fine dining in their charming restaurant with fireplaces and the option of different private dining rooms. The common denominator here is fine French food (and seasonal specialties, such as their added Oktoberfest menu options this month) and attentive service. Whether for an evening out or ideal for a special occasion or celebration, this would definitely be one of my top 3 restaurants to choose from in San Diego county.

There are some German influences on the menu as well (year round) as the Executive Chef is of German descent. Their cocktails are top notch, slightly more than expected, but this is fine dining after all. Their corkage fee is $30, the wine should not be on their wine list, note their cellar is a sommelier's dream and they have excellent wine glasses and they have many choices for wines by the glass.

They also have some Chino Farms vegetables on the menu, always a treat. Their bread basket included three different types of bread: French baguettes, wheat and a poppyseed/sesame bread along their German pretzel pieces. The German pretzel pieces were definitely an Oktoberfest treat!

We dined inside the restaurant, although it was a beautiful evening and could have easily dined outside. This is not a place where one is rushed through a meal, rather the pace is very French, where one can relax and savor each delicious bite and enjoy each other's company.

As for the meal, the herring appetizer is quite simply outstanding, so fresh and melts in your mouth. It is perfectly paired with sliced potatoes and multi-colored beets, red onions and herbs. I cannot say it enough, yes, it is quite simply outstanding! Their lobster bisque is full flavored with sea scallops pieces and onions, very tasty even without the lobster chunks. Their veal schnitzel includes a lemon butter, which elevates the schnitzel, better than any I tried in Germany. They have a gorgeous cheese plate and their dessert menu is quite varied.

Feel free to transform yourself to The French countryside for a couple of hours, it is well worth the trip! Merci bien!

Note the there is no parking lot, but there is more than enough street parking close by.

Though I don't go to Mille Fleurs that oftern, I always like it when the maitre'd knows my name and welcomes me in a friendly way. Last night was no exception. The food was excellent as was the service.I had requested a certain table, and the staff honored my request. Our party of six enjoyed the entire experience.

Restaurants in recent years have become more informal, more noisy, and less personal. Mille Fleurs is an oasis in that regard.

This restaurant has been a location in the village of Rancho Santa Fe for many years. It is in the highest sense gourmet dining. Service is impeccable with a Maitre' de in charge of your table over seeing every detail. It is expensive so perhaps best preserved for birthday's and anniversaries or the like. Or, maybe a special "date night" for your companion.
The dining area is also quiet enough that you can talk, laugh, and enjoy the food.

Bogdan provided excellent service along with the restaurant service team. Lobster bisque is above average but prefer lobster pieces instead of cauliflower pieces. The vennison loin is excellent. The creme brulee and dessert plate are about average for this restaurant level. Nice ambience with several rooms and outside seating. Corkage fee $30. Located in the Rancho Sante Fe town center area.
