As we strolled down Pleasanton Main Street we were attracted by the great coffee aroma and attractive library style decor of Inklings. It's a roomy place set up to attract those who want to browse their laptops over a coffee or tea.
We decided on two cups of the house roast and were quickly served by a rather robotic 'barista'. Cash was taken by a semi-interested cashier and we found a table to enjoy our coffee. There were several tables for two and since we are a couple we thought we would find one and relax. We searched all the ante-rooms and even the outside seating area but almost all were occupied by a single drinker. So we sat in the main room on one of the large refectory tables.
Finally we tasted the coffee. Wow, what a disappointment.
We will not be returning, certainly not for the house blend which tasted as though it had been brewed when the house was built. It was clear that the staff have no appreciation of how to serve good coffee so we simply left with the cups far from emptied.
