THE GOOD: BEAUTIFUL HOTEL AND PROPERTY - The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. We had rooms on the first floor on the bay side. Everything was clean and neat in the rooms. There's even a mini-fridge. There's a nice outdoor path that runs along the river and out into the wild blue yonder that is a dream to walk or run.
THE BAD: THE LITTLE STUFF - The bed does not have a fitted sheet and housekeeping just layers all the sheets and tuck in tight, so good luck peeling back the top sheet from the bottom sheet and staying in between. There is no complimentary breakfast unless you book a room on the club level or are a club member. Breakfast in the restaurant is ridiculously expensive at $3 for a glass of milk!!! The gym is a fishbowl - large windows so the world can see you while you are working out. The treadmill belts are so worn they have tears in the middle of them. Free wireless does not apply to the outer rooms where reception is more miss than hit. The beautiful outdoor path that runs along the river is peppered with dog poo. No one picks up after there pouch here.
THE UGLY: THE STAFF - There is nothing worse than front desk staff that is less than concerned about the satisfaction of the hotel guests. "We'll see what we can do" is their dismissal phrase. Seeing as how the hotel is trying to put forth a green image, I thought that they would be happy to help me collect the old newspapers to donate to my cousins' compost. "We'll see what we can do." Apparently, nothing. They proudly display that they brew Starbucks coffee, but don't have Starbucks green attitude as they looked at me funny when I asked for the used coffee grounds. When it comes to working with the customer to meet their travel needs, they fall far short! I'm traveling with 4 seniors, 2 of whom are disabled, and asked the front desk to get 3 rooms as close together as possible. They said that they were fully booked that night but "we'll see what we can do" tomorrow when people start checking out. The next day the new staff reiterated that the hotel was fully booked and they could not accommodate our request. However, 2 hours later, as I was waiting in the lobby, I overhear one of the staff tell a walk-in guest that she just sold the last room 5 minutes ago. I thought they were "fully booked" 2 hours ago! Furthermore, one of the rooms we were in smelled of carcass and the staff still wouldn't give us a new room! Finally, after threatening to move our entire party to another hotel, we got the room changed.
Being as how I'm from the south where you can't beat the friendliness of the natives, customer service is big in my book. Even though the property is nice, I would not return on account of the poor service.
