Description: Our first restaurant has been a Palo Alto institution since its doors opened in 1976. With the brand new addition of an oyster bar, cocktail bar and lounge area, there are now even more ways to experience this unique restaurant. The expansive retail market remains a popular stop for local residents seeking to take home the finest in fresh fish.

A staple of the local community for really fresh fish and seafood. The chowder actually has a significant portion of clams. The sides are interesting and will meet all types of dietary needs. Simple but with a variety of flavor enhancements.

Really enjoyed their Sushi/Oysters. Grilled fish (Salmon) is absolutely delicious. A bit pricey but definitely worth a visit with family or for business. It’s easy to find and right on El Camino. Plenty of parking spaces outside. Highly recommended.

We've been going to The First Market since 1996. It offers a great variety of fresh fish at fairly reasonable prices. The clam chowders (red or white) are good, too, but nothing extraordinary. Service is generally attentive, but don't expect it to be top shelf. Depends of the server, of course.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Palo Alto; super fresh ingredients and sea food; great combination of flavors. I strongly recommend the Manhattan chowder and the Canadian smoked salmon.
Great relation between cost and quality

Really enjoyed our lunch - the menu is extensive, and the service is friendly and efficient. We had calamari, fish platter, fish tacos, seafood platter, and artichoke and crab dip - all great! Also Bloody Mary drink is garnished with shrimp, green bean, celery, and two big green olives! I was disappointed in my dessert- snickerdoodle brownie with ice cream drizzled with caramel- it was dry believe it or not!!
Still - this place is crazy good!
