We wife and I planned a trip to Palm Springs for my 60th birthday. We'd never been there before. After doing research, we reserved a unit at Marquis Villas through Trip Advisor/VacayHome Connect. The listing mentioned some units had king beds and some were double/doubles. We requested a king bed at time of booking. Without going into too much detail - 1 day prior to arrival, I emailed VacayHomes to let them know our ETA and again requesting a king bed unit. I was assured by "Raju" at VacayHomes that
"All the one bedroom units here come with king beds so that won't be an issue."
Okay, we thought we were good to go. Upon checking in, we were greeted by a very unfriendly desk attendant who obviously didn't seem to care about his job. He informed us of the $10 per day "Resort Fee" that we were unaware of so, we paid that. We got to our room and discovered 2 double beds. I had to go into the hallway to use the house phone since neither phone in the room worked. The desk attendant again was unhelpful, saying there were no king beds available and we should contact the third party booking company for resolution. After subsequent conversations with the staff the next day, we elected to stay in the double room since we had already unpacked and didn't want the hassle of switching rooms. Another surprise - no daily housekeeping since this is a timeshare now that Diamond Resorts owns it. Didn't see that in the property description when we booked. Bottom line - check the details carefully when booking.
Great location - close to downtown (Thursday night street fair is fun)
Underground secure parking
Full kitchen in unit
Large, spacious room with balcony
Rooms are old and dated and need upgrading - Beds in our unit were cheap and uncomfortably hard. TVs were old school tube type and didn't work well
Hallway carpet is atrocious - stained and wrinkled
Unfriendly desk attendant and concierge
No daily housekeeping (1 cleaning per 5 night stay)
All in all, it's an okay place to stay. Just don't pay too much...
