“Quaint but updated shopping and strolling”
Review of Palm Canyon Drive

Palm Canyon drive gives you a mix of the old and new in Palm Springs. A new hotel and some new shopping has been added in the last year and still some of the old favorites are there to make your strolling the main drag of Palm Springs enjoyable. Don't miss the Thursday night Street Fair.

The main downtown area stretches between Palm Canyon Drive and Indian Canyon Drive (one block wide) and is bordered by Baristo Road on one end and Alejo Road on the other. Don't take my word for it; this is how "Palm Springs Visitor Center" defines the area. These 5 blocks contain all the shops, galleries, clubs, restaurants, cafes, and sights and sounds we love about Palm Springs.

Sure, life goes on outside of these 5 blocks but the lion's share happens here.

A highlight is the Thursday night Village Fest which takes place here "downtown" where entertainment, food, crafts, and exuberance finds its expression.

This is a must-see, must-do thing for every visitor (in our estimation).

On Thursday evening they have a street festival which brings out TONS of people and is really nice to walk around after dinner. Overall a fairly good collection of shops and restaurants.

We drove around on our own, but also booked a three hour guided tour, which I highly recommend. The two major downtown Palm Springs streets still have some historic buildings. There is a street fair during some evenings that has fun food and music.
