This location provided us the sounds and sights of the ocean; it is what we looked for. The rustic feeling of the dock house worked well for us. The hammock was great. The sights of seals and whales made me realize we should have rented a kayak and paddled out to get a closer look. Walking to the beach or the commercial areas was also a plus.
What an architectural gem. The time and care that went into designing this duplex/ boathouse is nothing less than extraordinary. It may have been cold and rainy the entire time we were here, but that did not matter one bit. We slept every night out on the 9' bed, swaddled in down comforters. It was so soothing hearing the waves and waking up to the many surfers catching waves. The home is cozy and comfortable with no TV or radio, and a well equipped kitchen with everything you might need. The Japanese soaking tub was luxurious and you can find bubble bath under the bathroom sink (did not find that the first night). You can hear and see the ocean from the tub, make sure you open the windows so you can hear and feel the experience. We will most definitely be staying here next time we are in the Bay Area.
The only suggestions I would have for the owner would be:
Add a full length mirror ( We were getting ready for a wedding and couldn't see how we looked. LOL).
Add a few more hooks to hang towels and some extra hangers in the closet.
There is not a lot of storage or counter space in the bathroom, so perhaps some shelves above the toilet.
I know it is very Zen home, but a Bluetooth speaker would be great if you wanted to listen to music.
Just suggestions, we loved them when we had a vacation rental. Thank you so much for opening up your home to travelers.
