My boyfriend and I were there for only one night but it was wonderful. We had a welcoming crew and a comfortable night. One of the best things would be location, with the ocean views and access to Cannery row/Aquarium/lighthouse/Caramel-by-the-sea. Highly recommend it for couples.

We picked up a Travelzoo voucher and spent an extra $275 upgrade charge for two nights. I chose the upgrade after they said a suite with an ocean view was available.

We arrived after a long drive and mid-evening, so we stayed there that night, but took the loss and left the next day. This place was so misrepresented! The description, the photos, what they told me over the phone – it’s not vintage, it’s run down! Here’s some of it:

--I told them, “This is not a suite, it’s one living area and a bathroom!” and she said, “No, that’s just the name of the room – The Suite.”
--Our “ocean view” was about a 20-degree angle as there was a house right in front of our window.
--The breakfast in the photos? Not even! Poached eggs on mushrooms with an English muffin. One strip of bacon. One???
--There is no television, which was fine, but the Wi-Fi was so poor we couldn’t even stream music.
--The shampoo in the bathroom had already been used.
--The refrigerator is a mini fridge just sitting on the floor.
--No in-room coffee and no ice machine anywhere.
--Everything is just old and tired. The finish had come off fixtures in many places, the carpet was stained, the footboard on the bed was loose, etc.
--No air conditioning, so be careful if you’re going when it’s warm.

I will say the staff was very gracious and gave us a partial refund when we left. We’ll NEVER go back though! It should rent for $125 a night at best!

Room tip: The "suite" is NOT a suite!

Obviously we can not be everything to everyone no matter how hard we try. These 3 reviews in a row all stayed in the same room, and were served by the same people. This guest was here on a special deal and paid 1/2 of what the other 2 paid yet thought it was too much. If you appreciate being the guest of a very wealthy person and experiencing how someone actually lived during Victorian time you will love the Martine Inn

I'll start with reservation, a breeze to make at the last minute. The woman who worked with me was extremely helpful. My husband has some mobility issues and the Inn has many stairs, to the front door. BUT.... for their guest's comfort, there is an easy side door access, with handicap parking & no steps! AND....a gate on the opposite side, where our suite was located, that we used to take our belongings through. I appreciated that immensely!
The suite, with ocean view and a fireplace, was very comfortable and decorated in the early American tradition. Breakfast was excellent and the table was set in a lovely, formal fashion, again with ocean view. Our waitress was a pleasant woman, who has worked at the Inn for 16 yrs.! She also is head of housekeeping and loves to garden there too.
I recommend the Martine Inn highly. It is definitely top notch and is run extremely well. We had a brief conversation with Mr. Martine as well. Ask him about MGs!!!

Room tip: Try to get oceanfront.

Fantastic 3 day 2 night stay. The staff made it so easy and comfortable for the 7 couples of our group to spend a wonderful time. View of waves crashing on rocks, food, fireplace in rooms, dining room, classic auto collection ALL fantastic. The group wants to make this an annual event.

This was our 3rd or 4th trip to the Martine Inn over the past 10 years.
The location is perfect. Gorgeous ocean view right out front of the dining room.

I had dealings with 3 of the staff and 2 of them were outstanding! Vanila (I think that is how you spell her name) was wonderfully helpful and amazing attitude. A real asset.
The young man - not sure he should be in the hospitality business.

Enjoyed the wine & hor doeurves while watching the sun set was very nice.
The home made cookies were amazingly delicious and unique. Great job!

A few things could be freshened up to make our review a 5 star. I noticed a few of the other recent reviews also mentioned the facility could use a little TLC. But none of them are deal breakers.

We will be back!
