Fabulous setting in multiple gardens on site. Romantic lighting. Service wonderful. Prix Fixe Menu choices good for entrees. You can choose 3 or 5 courses with the difference only $10.00 so everyone at our table of 6 chose the 5 courses.
Appetizers very small portions. Examples: One Scallop nicely served, or three crab cakes shaped like large mushrooms, or two lettuce leaves with tiny pieces of filet steak well done over shredded cukes and onions I think plus two others and the soup choices were a lukewarm tortilla soup or a thin watery liquid soup of mint and cucumber- both choices were left 3/4 full at every ones place. Salad choice was either small pieces of watermelon, smaller pieces (chopped) of pineapple with a 1/2 tsp. of cheese and a request for no salt as offered or a small watercress salad. The entrees were all well received and plates left empty. Two ordered the filet, two ordered the plank salmon, two ordered the short ribs Meats came with mashed potatoes or the fish with pink rice.
Dessert was disappointing. Everyone got a small three sectioned plate with one bite of a delicious chocolate brownie, one bite of panna cotta (no one ate it after a small taste on a fork) and one other half teaspoon of an uneventful bite. As we were celebrating two birthdays and one anniversary we had sparklers inserted in the desserts. So if the soups were better, the desserts better and the salads better it would have been a much better meal for the $55.00 each paid. The wines were fabulous and their list is excellent. There was one entree offered for those not eating dairy or meat and was a vegetable dish with eggplant, tomatoes, etc.

Again, the setting is memorable, sitting outside when it is 70 degrees in the evening with little lights and huge areas of tall bamboo stalks and leaves creating small intimate areas among the tables on the side and back of the main restaurant makes
for a lovely memory.

The Ranch House was our absolute favorite restaurant 20 years ago-- sorry it doesn't nearly compare any more. My wife and I eat mostly at home, casual Asian or Mexican when we go out, but once in a while like to have a special meal. We had heard that the Ranch House deteriorated, but had now improved and we decided to check it out. The grounds are about like before, maybe a little more "institutional" and less unique seatings. Fixed price menu is reasonably priced at 45 for 3 courses (you choose which) and 55 for 5 courses. The wine list is overpriced for what they have. Service folk were young and inexperienced, spotty attention. The food- that's what we came for, right? I had the pate' for appetizer-- a little better than from a can. The scallops were quite nice. The green salad was conventional and uninspired. The mains: duck was moist and reasonably well seasoned. Lamb was fine. Three small pieces for desert-- one of them was very good. If you can get the travelzoo $99 for 5 course with wine for 2, I think it is a reasonable, if not worthy of a special night option.

Unassuming little place in a beautiful garden setting. Delicious farm fresh ingredients in make up a simple sophisticated American fare menu. For dinner you select a fixed priced 3 or 5 selection meal. We were a group of four. Appetizers jncluded delicious crab cakes, curried scallops, yummy porkbelly. Mains included braised short ribs, filet minions, and salmon. Dessert was a trio of panacotta, chocolate torte, a salted caramel mousse. They also have quite a selection of wines to pair with your dinner. Beautiful garden setting, friendly attentive staff, good food. Recommend.

From the outside, it is not impressive. However, on the inside it was very nice. We made reservations for dinner. However, they did not seem to be very busy at that time. We sat outside by some water with bamboo trees in the background.
