I found the Lauri Lane Mountain House on Homeaway. So far I've had great luck with that site but with each new booking, I'm always nervous, because of all the horror stories you hear. Well good luck has struck again. I booked this house for a 5 day trip to Yosemite for my mom, aunt, and I. From the moment I booked, Gina was wonderful! So helpful and kind, emailing me suggestions of what to do in the area, where to eat, etc. She graciously let us check in early since we drove up from San Diego, leaving at 4am. When we pulled up the house, we loved it on sight. The property is gorgeous. Wildflowers along with the flowers planted in the yard were blooming. There's a bird feeder and bird bath in the front that attract lots of birds and squirrels. There is a wonderful fire pit out back as well.
Gina's directions for checking in were super easy. The house was easy to find on GPS. The inside is charming, a bit dated, but so homey. Plenty of space with 3 bedrooms and 1 3/4 bath. The 3rd bedroom has 2 beds in it (queen size sofa bed and full size rollaway bed), the other 2 rooms have king size beds, very comfortable. We enjoyed local wildlife visits, including deer, squirrels, quail, scrub jays, woodpeckers, and more.
Perhaps my favorite thing about this house is the unofficial "tradition" of guests leaving items for future guests to use. There was cooking oil, spices, pancake syrup, coffee, tea, condiments, etc just to name a few things. We left our own contribution as well. This kitchen is fully stocked with every utensil, bowl, pot, pan, baking dish, etc I could ask for. In addition, they provide cold packs and coolers so we packed our lunch and took it into Yosemite a few days. We will definitely be making this home base for all future Yosemite trips.

Just stayed here for a quick weekend trip to Yosemite. 50's style home with large yard and garage. Owner provides bottled water. Beds were comfortable with tempurpedic tops. Nice living room with flat screen tv and lots of picture windows. We were able to easily get to the park, choosing the south entrance the first day and the Arch Rock entrance the second day. Dollar Store and grocery and restaurants nearby. Fireplace and fire pit.
This house was a great option for staying in Oakhurst. We stayed 2 nights and since we had 6 guests made up of 2 families (splitting the cost) we saved money over choosing a hotel in the same area. The drive in and out of Yosemite to Oakhurst is kind of long and on very winding roads, but unless you stay in the park, this is difficult to avoid. The convenience to stores, gas, restaurants is offset by the drive.
As for the Laurie Lane house, it is a cute, clean, well maintained house that had plenty of room for the six of us to spread out. The yard is great and big so neighbors aren't very close by, so it is super quiet. Having a kitchen was great to make breakfast and pack lunches for the days spent in Yosemite. We had no trouble finding the house or getting in. I did have some trouble with closing the garage door once inside (not sure if I was doing something wrong?). The only minor complaints we would have is a slow draining tub and the water supply. The house I believe uses well water and is best not used for drinking by certain at risk people (pregnant, etc). This was well explained once we arrived and plenty of bottled water for drinking was supplied. Just a little surprised and slightly inconvenient but really not a huge deal. (it is possible this was detailed somewhere prior to renting and I did not remember?).
Overall this was a great experience and a nice alternative to a hotel stay. It is not fancy but but clean and comfortable and I would definitely recommend.

Beautiful house it was, far better than what pictures above shows.
Nicely accessible, decorated and very very spacious.
Fully loaded house with almost 5 pack of cards, can someone imagine? :)
You will never feel you are out of your own house as you will find everything of your need in house.
As it was such a sunny day we felt there were some cooling issues in the bedrooms.
Second bathroom is extremely small. But at least it is there as some of the nearby properties we inquired were not having 2 bathrooms at all.
Personally I didn't like Brown color towels, though I know they were in match with mountain theme of the house.

Absolutely stunning scenery, close to Yosemite, Bass Lake even Table mountain casino is not that far of a drive. Make sure to take in the local shops such as The Purple Cow and the 2nd hand stores. Relaxation at it's best!!!! Simply put, I felt like I was "home" but without the hassle of everyday life. Comfortable beds, I even slept in late, something I NEVER do at home. I recommend the Laurie Lane Mountain House to everyone.
