“Nice hotel. Watch out for additional fees.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

We got a great package deal on this hotel from Travelzoo and were excited to stay here. The facility was beautiful and luxurious but in a rather out of the way location. Our stay was pleasant with no real complaints until we received our bill the morning of checkout. Having already pre-paid for our stay through Travel Zoo, we were rather shocked to find that they charged us an additional $65 in resort fees and taxes for our two night stay! This may be nothing for higher end patrons, but for a newly married couple on a budget, these ridiculous fees pretty much left a bad taste in our mouth. Our overall experience was pleasant and this is a nice place, but i doubt we would visit again and certainly would not reccomend to those who are price conscious or looking for a deal :(

Thank you for reviewing us! We do want to apologize if our resort fees were misleading. The resort fee includes: parking, access to the fitness center, access to the pools and jacuzzi, wifi access, evening shuttle service, bottle of wine upon arrival, daily water in the guest rooms. We hope you enjoyed your time as newlyweds, and wish you'll give us another try! We look forward to seeing you soon.

You are paying more for a name than for quality. When I booked online I was expecting something exceptional when I'd arrive, I was very disappointed. A lot of remodeling was going on, I would have appreciated at least an email with that information. They do offer a bottle of wine as complimentary, but still does not make up for the price that you pay.

Wow, this was the best vacation of our lives. What a grand facility. Everything was perfect. We were treated like royalty. I cannot say enough. If you call him, my husband will not stop raving to you about how wonderful everything was.

We live in San Ramon CA and have visited Hawaii, Arizona, Oregon, Anaheim, Donatello, Opera House, Fisherman's Wharf, Seattle and lots more of the Shell sites in the last 8 years, but this was the best. Just a 45 minute drive to the Garden of Eden and we are just now finding out about it. We spent the entire day on 03/30/2012 in the Spa. It was my birthday and we had a couples exfoliation, massage and lunch in the Spa with Victoria giving us great service. Francisco tended to my husband's every wish and the therapists were remarkable (Jennifer, Edith, et al). We spent 7 hours in there. All of the women at the spa front desk went overboard and killed us with kindness. Caitlin put together the couples package for us two days before on the phone and we were very happy with what she did. We went to dinner in Yountville at Bistro Jeantry and returned for room service by Ulrecht (from Haiti) who sang Happy Birthday to me in French and presented a chocolate cake with a candle that he lit. We had decafs with it (great coffee in the rooms, by the way, not any cheap stuff!) We went to sleep with a movie on one of five free Starz channels. We woke up to room service breakfast and went to Saturday 8:30 am Mass in the Chapel. What a splendid facility and the visiting priest from Chicago was so warm and caring. My husband did the readings to the sparse congregation. (Perhaps you could advertise it better in the hotel, as we were the only ones there for Palm Sunday Mass on Saturday at 5:30.) After morning Mass we went back to the spa for another day of lazing around doing nothing but sauna, steam, relax, massage, facial Bellisima, lunch, champagne, pampering, apples, tea, sauna, spa, relax. We walked back to the room in our robes and got ready for Palm Sunday Mass and then ate at the Siena. Rafael gave us fantastic service from 8:00 to 10:30 as he catered to our every desire bringing us appetizers and pairing wines to every dish. He was great and so was the food. The manager came by and talked with us and we complained about Yelpers together. We got a free DVD and popcorn from the front desk and had a nightcap in bed after spending time in the spa in the room.

We had a hard time waking up on Sunday and finally made it back to Bistro Jeantry for a lunch from 2:30 to 5:00 and back to the Meritage when we realized that we had yet to visit a winery. So we went the the Trinitas on the property and closed the place down and walked back to the room for another night of DVDs, popcorn room service and heaven.

The very best part of all: we hadn't been on vacation for a while, so we converted our points to Spa dollars and Dining dollars. We plan to repeat this again for our 10th anniversary on June 29!

Room Tip: You do not need to do anything - this place is absolute top notch and anybody complaining about this...

Thank you for such a phenomenal review! Your excitement over your stay is truly why we love our jobs! The team at the spa is simply superb, and they will not go unrecognized! I must say you were able to take advantage of so many amenities! We couldn't be happier that you felt so relaxed after it all. We hope your stay in June was just as excellent, and we look forward to seeing you time and time again!

Three nights here for a conference. Very comfortable and amazing - its pet friendly. Great room, good food, friendly staff. Weather was cold so the outdoor setting didn't work so well - but overall very good.

Thank you for this outstanding review! We apologize for the weather (even though we can't control it), it is always a disappointment to go on vacation in the rain. We hope you'll visit us again soon and be able to experience true California weather!

We used a TravelZoo voucher for what was marketed as a "deal". The first impression was the overwhelming construction happening at the resort. In addition, the front enterance was under repair and so you had to walk thru a side enterance, poorly market, lacking any proper signage or help and assistance from staff. When we arrived, there was some rain and the inconveniance was a beginning to a poor stay. The facility is not well maintained. Fixtures and furnishings are worn and tired. Staff lacks appropriate level of friendliness and energy. Shower in room was the nightmare hot to cold and cold to hot in seconds during your shower, OUCH! Room was minumal with decor and set-up. Again, remodeling in the lobby was shabby. Not alot of communications or assistance on the part of the resort to accomidate guests thru the "dust". Won't be back.

Room Tip: Skip it....
