“Great oysters, but not better than Louisiana”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

The atmosphere and location were great. The weather was perfect. The casino oysters were well seasoned. And the atlantic and pacific oysters were both good, but were ultimately a little less fantastic that Louisiana oysters (much better value in LA)

“BBQ Oysters”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

Like to BBQ oysters? Picked up 18 medium oysters just out of the water oysters. Had them on the BBQ within 2 hours -- the best.

What a great spot, my husband is still talking about this meal! Love the atmosphere and watching the chef preparing meals. Excellent ingredients, simple but killer flavors. Waitstaff was fun and attentive. Loved it!

“A Lovely Dining Experience”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

The Hog Island Oyster was in the Oxbow Public Market which was a gorgeous array of gourmet cheeses, coffee, organic produce and other tasty morsels.

I had the mixed oyster plate to start, wondering what the difference was for all the kinds of fresh oysters listed. The waiter was fantastic, explaining all the oyster offerings on the menu. When it was presented you could definitely appreciate the variations of oysters from different areas.
My second course was the quintessential seafood chowder served with crusty bread and a pear, rocket, walnut and blue cheese salad. Both were delicious and nicely accompanied by a local sauv blanc.

It was very busy, which is no wonder considering the calibre of the food, and we only we able to get a seat at a communal table with another party, so it wasn't the leisurely lunch I had hoped for, but I will definitely return the next time I am in the States.
