“Exceeded our expectations.”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

This was a great way to see the valley from Napa to St. Helena. Our expectations for the food on the train were modest since usually the food on these kinds of things is just adequate. We checked in at the station and it seemed kind of tacky, but it may have just been because it was crowded. Seats on the train are reserved. We were given a taste of two wines while we were waiting. Once on the train, however, everything was first class. We had booked on the vista dome car, one of those observation cars popular mid-20th century. The food was as good as the best restaurants we had been on during our trip. Very nice wines. Super comfortable and elegant. Our waiter, Gerald, was a native of Napa and besides being an excellent waiter, kept us informed about the passing scene outside. Because we had been touring and tasting for the previous six days, it gave us an opportunity to see these wineries from a different angle. This three hour trip was a terrific and relaxing way to spend our time. You need to book well ahead, especially for this dome car, as it is the only one. This is not cheap, but one of those examples of where you do get value for the money.

“Best Food ~ Best Service ~ Favorite Memory !”
Reviewed 4 March 2012

We preplanned our wine trip to include several wineries and top rated (very expensive) restaurants and were so surprised to have the best food and best service on the wine train and in fact it was so perfect that we left a $100 tip for just 2 of us !! Do not pass this great experience up.

“Better then I thought”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

It was our first time and we did not know what to expect, but many said to go for a great time. We scheduled a lunch train ride and we enjoyed it. The food was excellent, much better the I expected. Service was great. the train ride proved fantastic views of the many wineries. This is a must do. Bring a lock to place on the love lock fence

“Best way to see Napa!”
Reviewed 29 February 2012

Not only is the wine tasting delicious, but the food is amazing as well. I had the potato/salmon soup and the tuna steak. We also saw a guy propose to his girl, and I would say that it was the perfect romantic atmosphere for that.

“Nice Experience”
Reviewed 23 February 2012

I recommend the Dome Dinner Tour, definately worth the extra money and it appeared to be a better meal and service than other parts of the train. You also have a bit more privacy. Food was good but not stellar.
