Truly about as close to visiting England as possible, without actually making the trip.
Great location next to the beach, great food and pub bar - cozy but pricey rooms.
I'm English and after spending the night thought that I'd been transported back when awakening the following morning.
Well worth a stay and also excellent for a secluded Honeymoon

Room Tip: Check out the photos of the very limited number of rooms on their website.

We were visiting Muir Woods for the first time, and our daughter recommended a stop at the Pelican Inn afterwards.

It was, as I overheard another visitor say..... "rather like travelling 6000miles and back in time 200 years".

The welcome was enthusiastic and friendly, and despite not wanting to eat, we felt valued as customers. Great pints of Blackthorn cider in proper dimpled pint glasses.

Rather small and olde worlde but on a hot Sunday afternoon at the end of November it was packed to the ceiling.
Fortunately plenty of outside seating on the lawn.
Would have liked to have eaten here but too crowded.

We visited Pelican Inn on a hiking trek. It was chosen for us as part of the trek, we did not chose the inn. The young lady that checked us in was nice but seemed confused or clueless about what to do. We were in an upstairs room but there was no bellman to take our luggage up the narrow stairs. The room was nice but very worn (rugs, furniture, etc.) The couch is our room was worn but OK but we were afraid to sit in the two chairs for fear of them collapsing. The walls were thin and we could hear the couple in the room next to ours.
On a positive note our bed was very comfortable. We ate at the inn and both dinner and breakfast were good.
