“Some Places Dwell in a Time Warp”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 September 2009

What though it was a small room—best to step outside to change your mind—it was, nonetheless, adequate, with sink separate from shower and W.C., and if you didn’t mind asking the desk clerk for a top sheet (strangely, missing beneath the luxurious duvet), it worked, withal. And dinner on the deck overlooking the river was leisurely, delicious, ultimately graced by candlelight . . . all that a couple in a luxurious mood and appreciating privacy could ask.

For this, we paid a pittance by Sonoma County standards, a bagatelle, considering the ghosts of patrons from many generations past (how the dining room, with its vaulted ceiling, must have resonated with delighted clamor, with echoes of music and seductions contemplated and achieved).

Some places dwell in a time warp. This is one of them. Come and enjoy it for yourselves.

Highly recommend for Bed and Breakfast

The good:
- Very Clean
- Newly refurbished
- Right on the river
- Staff very helpful and interesting to talk with
- Looked like the nicest hotel in the area
- Bed very comfortable
- Free internet

The bad:
- Rooms at the front overlook a car park
- They host a lot of live music here - noisy!
- You must have a car to get here
- No hanging space in many rooms
- No irons or coffee makers
- No gym, spa

I would return here. We paid $169 a night for BB and were treated very well.

Beautiful location in the redwoods, overlooking the Russian River. Very peaceful. Great food and staff. Would highly recommend. Short drive to Bodega Bay and coast line.

My husband and I stayed here for one night as part of a 2-day wine country trip. We found the hotel very beautiful. The rooms are brand new looking and decorated very peacefully. The bed is wonderfully comfortable, with a luxurious down comforter and pristine white matelasse bedspread. The bathrooms have great water pressure and the tilework could inspire anyone to renovate their home bathroom! The breakfast that comes included in your night's stay is called "continental" but ours was eggs made to order, coffee, juice, muffins, cereal, and fruit. Breakfast is in the dining room which has a wonderful view of the river.

My only negative comments are that the rooms are a bit small, and one MAJOR complaint/piece of advice: the hotel needs better soundproofing. My husband and I were awokened to the sound of a couple having sex so loud it sounded like it was in the same room...ew. Also, the location in the off season can seem kind of desolate.

the property was nice, by the river and really beautiful. The rooms were a bit on the small side and u can hear noise from the hallways (though the place was very quiet). Breakfast in the morning was good and the dining room is awesome for its views
