Just had a New Year count down private party at this Chinese restaurant last week on New Years Eve (12/31/2015). This is the 2nd time I went to this restaurant, both on New Years eve party. The food is very good however the restaurant was very crowded, noisy, and congested.
We had very little room to move around. It was like a 8-course seafood dinner including lobsters, wine and champagne. We paid $50 a person which we thought was a very reasonable price. Restroom is pretty clean, and there are lots of parking space (it is in a mall).I would say this is in the top 3 Chinese seafood restaurant in the area. This is not a restaurant you would go for a romantic dinner, however it is very popular for wedding and private parties. I would go back again.

Dim Sum food was quite average in taste but Above average in price . Price / Taste ratio is High . They charge House Tea by Person (including Kids) rather than by Tea Pot .. which again does not make sense . In addition they automatically Include the service charge in the Bill rather than leaving it to your discretion based on service provided and include the service charge amount as part of the calculated Tax .. meaning that you are taxed on the Service charge also .. which again does not make sense .

One of the top Chinese Restaurant in Silicon Valley. Mayflower has top quality Chinese food, particular the Cantonese style seafood. Excellent furnishing. But this place is more like a noisy and busy Chinese Restaurant, and less like romantic quiet date type of restaurant. The price is higher than typical average Chinese restaurants in this area. Morning 11am Dim Sum (Chinese tea cake) is quite crowded and very good quality food, lot of different variety but a little pricey, top 3 restaurant in the San Jose South Bay Silicon Valley areas. No wonder people usually have to wait for over half hour or more for lunch and dinner, Because the food is one of the best, local people keep coming back. Dinner reservation recommended. The entire restaurant in many weekend dinner time may be taken over for banquet (very popular place for Chinese and Vietnamese wedding dinners).
Plenty of parking, unless during the weekday lunch crowd. Then, you may have to park in the back of the Plaza and walk a little bit.

Very short-sighted management. I ordered a dish of crispy-skinned pork at dim sum today and after biting into one, realized the entire dish (which was pretty small to begin with) was fat covered with crispy skin. I talked to the manager about either getting a replacement or returning it. He said the policy was if you touched more than a couple of pieces, they cannot take it back (which begs the question, if you only touched a couple of pieces, they would recycle the rest - not a pleasant thought is it?).

My beef is this - if a customer felt strongly enough that she/he was asking the management to do something about it, they should make it right. But they didn't care. They would rather lose a customer than to "lose" money on the dim sum dish. No-one should patronize such a smug establishment. There are other, better choices out there.

The dim sum was great -- an authentic experience, with the food brought on little carts, the tea flowing plentifully and the food varied and delicious (earning the approval of my Chinese-raised table-mates as well). Definitely a place worth trying, if you're in the area. :)
