I usually have a no.1 combo which starts with the soup of the day, and then rice, sweet and sour pork and chow mein. Tea is included and all for $7.50

My mother in law loves the chow main here. We called for a take out of rice chow main broccoli beef and my favorite prawns with green beans.
We have been coming here for over 20 years and the food has always been great. Jimmy is the owner and should be proud of his staff and establishment.

Was in Millbrae, so excited to have good Chinese Food, but instead used Yelp to find this place. Very Americanized. For example, you get forks instead of chopsticks. Clientele not Asian, but Caucasian and most older/seniors. Nicer than usual service and good english though. Ate and promptly left, not my type of place.

under the same ownership. The food may have slipped a little since it opened in 1983, but the menu has changed very little in that time. Jimmy opened up when Millbrae was Italian and had only a dozen or so Chinese restaurants (for its population of 20,000). There are about 30 now. (I haven't got around to counting.) So merely surviving is an accomplishment. If you are looking for authentic Chinese---lanzhou beef ramen, cold water pork tripe, Zhongshan fish head casserole---you have a choice of places where the staff speaks little or no English and Chinese and Chinese-Americans come from miles around. At manyof them there is no English on the menu. If you want hot and sour soup, broccoli beef and chow mein, you want Lai Lai. Prices are low; service is friendly, and, these days, you can usually get a table.

What can I say? I hit this place every time I'm in San Francisco; it's one of my favorites. I've had many of the chicken dishes and several appetizers and all have been excellent. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Give it a try!
