When you're spending over a thousand bucks for a two-night hotel stay, you expect a high standard of excellence. The Stanford Park Hotel certainly didn't disappoint.
Our room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable, with all the usual amenities found in a luxury hotel. Business travelers will appreciate the large, well-lit desk with conveniently placed electric and USB outlets. Easily accessible HDMI and VGA cables allow you to connect a laptop to the big screen TV. And you don't need an instruction manual to confidently set the analog alarm clock!
None of this would matter without a well-trained staff. I'm pleased to say that everyone we interacted with seemed genuinely interested in our well being... even those who don't regularly come into contact with guests.
We used the convenient free shuttle (a luxury Cadillac SUV) several times to travel back-and-forth to Stanford Hospital. Unfortunately, we couldn't take advantage of the outdoor courtyard due to the weather. The fresh-baked cookies at night were a nice touch.
The only disappointing part of our stay was the restaurant, where the food and service definitely weren't of the same high calibre as the hotel itself. And maybe one of these days, hotels will end the nonsensical practice of adding a mandatory "resort fee" (or similarly-named surcharge) to the daily room rate.
I recommend the Stanford Park Hotel... especially if you're traveling on business.More
