Totally worth the visit to this light house. Beautiful view of the cliffs and we saw sea lions and black tail deer. Not to mention a wonderful history lesson.
Beautiful setting...walk out beyond the light house and look at the bluffs. So amazing. You do have to walk a little ways up to the light house so wear good shoes. You can go inside but not up in the light house.
Tour inside and see how they lived.
We recommend that our guests at Caspar Cottage take a sunset walk to the Point Cabrillo Light Station. Easy walk with beautiful ocean views and lots of birds, deer, and perhaps whales sightings!
This park is a small gem, quiet and free of charge. Park at the small visitor center, and take a hike out to the lighthouse. There you can visit with the park ranger, explore the tiny "museum", or just commune with nature. You will be virtually alone with the Pacific, surrounded by the beauty of the northern California coast. The hike itself is easy, short and with a gentle grade on the return.
This free park has a spot to picnic, clean restrooms and fascinating history. It's a fairly long walk from the parking area to the lighthouse, so bring walking shoes and even some water. The museum is donation based, but worth the fascinating history lesson delivered by a retired college professor with a great sense of humor and history.
It was a beautiful day in Mendocino for this lovely walk to the Light Station. There is a small and interesting museum on site. There is a tiny aquarium that is fun to peek into. The cottages were nice to photograph and the museum inside one of them is interesting. Lovely views of the ocean waves.
