Good ice cream (east coast style), mostly organic ingredients, and friendly mom & pop service. Only a few flavors, maybe 10 or so, along with a few flavors of delicious refreshing Italian Ice. I won't mention what flavors we liked best because they change often and probably won't be available next week. They have a nice clean restroom and a few tables/chairs so that you can sit and enjoy your ice cream with the family.

LA is one of the BEST cities for healthy, organic, fresh, clean eats! It is one of the things I'll miss not living there. Local Ice is the other. The owners work hard at creating some of the best flavors, without being uber trendy, and real, organic, gluten free, dairy free ice cream and ices. The cookie monster is MY absolute favorite, and the coffee. My kids love cookie monster and their vanilla. The doughnut ice cream insane!!!!!!!! I really could go on and on and on, but one stop (again with parking), and you'll see. Sometimes you'll find them at school functions (they do a great deal out in the Sherman Oaks community, another plus). Oh, and if you are looking for dairy free, the Chocolate SNOW is incredible! Just sayin'!

Just from the Ventura Blvd you'll find this lovely little place. The ice (handmade!) is delicious and the store gives a nice feeling with it's interior. You should definitely pay it a visit!

There are quite a few "artisan" ice cream shoppes popping up in L.A County (finally, after years of it bein an ice-cream wasteland)...and this is one of the better spots for a delicious cone (organic based) or sundae. Service is always super friendly, prices are fair, and they have about a dozen interesting ice cream flavors and a few "Italian ices" and sorbets as well. Hard to find (look for the Beds Inc or Szuki sign and pull into the back parking lot) but worth the trip for sure! Nice little section with a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your sundae, and even an attractive, clean rest room.

The Skinny:

Parking- free large paved lot
Decor- light and bright
Service- friendly
Food- yummy

A friend had told me about this place but I had forgotten to check it out until I was at another appointment and drove right by it. Even though the address is Ventura Blvd, the ice cream parlor is tucked away in the back of a large strip mall across from Petco and next to the Sportsmen's Lodge. The whole business is very sweetly put together between the brightly colored walls to the bow ties on the employees. There is an abundant amount of choices from Organic Ice Cream, Italian ices, Frozen Yogurt and Coffees. Something for every palate. We tried the dark chocolate ice cream and the coffee and donuts ice cream - both had a rich creamy texture. Even though we were sharing the regular cup, we couldn't finish it! The prices are reasonable and I love that they have a pitcher of water and glasses available. A great place to go to satisfy your sweet tooth craving on a hot summer night.
