Central stop, easy access to food outlets to keep the costs down. The Front Yard restaurant is worth a visit beautiful food. The complimentary shuttle to Universal Studios or Metro is a great service. I would recommend this hotel. However do your own research on activities we wanted information on the open top red bus and what we were given was inaccurate leaving us to make alternatives plans, which worked out ok but this service could have been better

Price was around 240 for a night. A bit steep with all the noise and in comparison to other hotels.
No free parking.
We had view on the pool. Room has noise from the freeway, from other rooms and the refrigerator. (I sleep with earplugs so yay for me.)

Best restaurant around is just in front and is called Frontyard.
Staff was very very friendly.
Amenities and room quality was good, except for the noise but we didnt need to work or concentrate or were in the room for very long. Sleeping could prove a problem if you have trouble with that.
Shuttle goes every 30m to universal or the metro. Metro is 8 dollars for a tap card with free travels for a day. (7 if you already have a tap card)

Would come here again.

What a lovely hotel! Beautifully decorated, all the comforts. Rooms are large and comfortable and the bathroom is amazing! Huge shower! Pool area really lovely and comfortable. Close to universal studios so an easy walk but there is also a regular free shuttle. Thank you to staff for a great stay.

We stayed at The Garland for two nights in January as it is close to Universal Studios and we wanted a boutique hotel rather than another chain. The Garland is a fabulous place to stay. The hotel has a unique layout of three separate buildings, each six stories. We stayed in a Family Suite that had a king bed and sectional couch seating area in the main room and then a separate nook with a bunk bed. The bunk bed was a double on the bottom and single on top which suited our kids aged 11 and 8.

There was lots of good storage and two tv's which we like if the kids want to watch something different from my husband and me. The bathroom was very clean and had a modern upgrade.

The most special thing about The Garland is the design and decor. It has a great mid century modern vibe and decor is true to the era in which it was built. There are so many interesting aspects of furniture and textile and light fixture.

The pool was great, heated and open at night showing movies for the family. Our kids watched a movie and we sat at the lounge for a glass of wine but we could keep an eye on the pool.

The restaurant is also amazing. We ate there 5 times in 3 days as it was so good and convenient. There is a wonderful outdoor area with different types of seating and a lovely outdoor fireplace. The serve an excellent brunch, $19 for adults and $9 for kids and includes coffee and juice.

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel close to Universal. I should mention they have a retro trolley that runs from the hotel to Universal (and a couple of other stops) every hour. It was a treat for the kids and so convenient. It ran right on time and was free.

The only reason I am not giving the hotel a perfect score is that the room was quite humid; the A/C did work and they had a Dyson fan in the room, but it still seemed a bit "close" after being shut up all day.

Otherwise an amazing hotel.

One final comment is that all of the staff were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable, from the front desk to the bar to the restaurant.

Room Tip: Amazing decor and great service. Very cool hotel.

We are a family of four and we LOVED the Garland! Beautiful, boutique hotel with fun retro decor. Our daughter’s birthday fell during our trip and they sent up delicious goodies to the room, including cheesecake, which happens to be her favorite... Our suite was spacious and comfortable with two full bathrooms; so convenient! The hotel restaurant had great food. Convenient location, close to Universal Studios (free shuttle gets you there from in front of the hotel). Amazing service all around. Thank you, Garland, for elevating our vacation to new heights!
