I watched Henry build the building when I was a boy. It was always a favorite in everyone's book. Yes, before Taco Bell this was the only American Style Mexican food to find in Studio City or North Hollywood. Adam 12 and Dragnet used this location several times as well as being a fast meal for many of the actors & actresses that populate Studio City. Many an after-school snack was purchased here with whatever change you could scrounge up. The original location is no longer part of the experience but the same unique food is still available only one block east at a new location.

Just up the street. Saved by a new landlord. Great ground beef tacos. The beans and rice together are fantastic. Don't forget the hot sauce.

We read about this place in the newspaper. Henry's was established in the hey day of L.A.s drive in style restaurants, in the early 1960s. Typical walk up window, order your food and either take it to go or sit at their 4-5 benches & tables to eat your food. Tacos, tostadas, burritos, chili and rice and beans. Good $2 tacos. Place possibly going out of business due to lost lease. We had to try it before it was gone. More nostalgic than anything. Good cheap tacos, nothing fancy, just good and cheap. Hope the place stays in existence, most of these type L.A. eateries from the 1950s-1960s on their way out.

But then there's history--and chili--and a few other offerings of what you'd expect from a small corner place.

This was a very early evening stop before a late night dinner and we arrived just as a line was forming. Chili tasted wonderful on a cold, late afternoon, and the taco was, well a taco, and a good, fresh crispy one at that. Hope they can work out the lease issue.
