“Perfect Birthday Party for Dad”
Reviewed 17 January 2012

We planned several months for my Dad's 70th Bday and thankfully Patina delivered flawlessly as promised. We we able to get an intimate private room to accomidate our party of 22 and everything went absolutely perfectly. The service was phenomenal, our head waiter Jake was unbelievable in making sure things ran perfectly. The meal was perfectly timed for our speeches as well as the bday cake cutting before dessert. The butter poached lobster was unworldly, but all the other courses were also fantastic. Our champagne, wine and water glasses were perpetually filled, I never once had to ask any of the waitstaff for anything other than taking a snap shot of the old bday boy. This place is on par with per se, le bernardin, providence, jean georges, daniel and pretty much any fine dining restaurant I've been to in the US. Chef Tony even came out in the end to take a pic with the old man, we didn't even have to ask. I can't think of a more deserving place for 5 stars.

“Always consistent food and service, very good”
Reviewed 14 January 2012

Hard to understand many of the reviewers, not sure what they are looking for. Terrific, inventive food, excellent service and some amazing wine values. I've always enjoyed the meal, just wish it was located somewhere a little more convenient to get to. Not a place you can eat at every week, but after more than 15 years of dining at Patina, I still enjoy it and think most people will. It's very expensive, but then if you are looking for value, this isn't the place for you.

“Great for a special occasion!”
Reviewed 13 January 2012

We chose Patina because it had been highly recommended and we were attending a Philharmonic concert that evening. We had a memorable dinner from beginning to end. We found the service excellent and polished, but the food was the star - delicious, with the meats (ex. lamb, beef filet) prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. Our only complaint was a predictable one for a restaurant like this: although beautifuly presented, the portions of not only the meats, but the side vegetables, were rather small.

It was an expensive dinner - but it was also an experience that set the tone for a special evening. This is a "special occasion" adult restaurant...would not suggest it for families with children or teens! This is much better suited to a "date night" experience!

“Good food, could be more creative”
Reviewed 17 February 2010

Dinner while staying nearby on tuesday night. Food is very well prepared, excellent ingredients. Some dishes are a bit too ¨simple. Venison was excellent but came with boiled vegetables......... Sommelier is very very good. Excellent recommendation while decently priced (the wine). However, overall price is quite steep.

“Very over rated and extremely disappointing!”
Reviewed 19 May 2009

Too much hype about this over rated over priced sterile looking resturant. I don't get it, I don't mind paying for good food and or good service, but this is not it!!. Only 1 waiter that goes around to each table who by the way is not French and should stop pretending to speak french. Another server rolls out a cart that spent so much time with the
de-boneing of a fish dish that it was served COLD! I am surprised Los Angels would accept this crap for French cusine with even worst service. The deserts were not impressive either. I feel like I was robbed!
