“The Best French Dip in town”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

If you're looking for the best, inexpensive historical place to eat in Los Angeles, Phillippe's is it. There is always a line, many of them to be exact but they move quickly as the extremely well coifed waitresses have been there for years and are quick to gather your order. They have the best French Dip and Lamb sandwiches...EVER. It's a hot spot for the LA Police Department so you know it's fabulous and of course...you're always safe. Great coleslaw and potato salad too.

Delicious and a downtown classic. A must stop if you're in the area.

“Worth going to. But know what you are getting into.”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

The food is very good. The atmosphere is hash house. You must usually wait on the many lines to the counter to order and pick up food there. Then you hunt (or send a friend while you order, much better) for a counter or table in the warren of rooms. Saw dust concrete floors and memoribilia on the walls. Good before or after Dodger Stadium. 9 cent (that's right) 9 cent coffee.

“French Dip paradise”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

According to Philippe's, the French Dip sandwich was invented here. They are delicious and come in a variety of meat choice including lamb. Sawdust on the floor and seating at benches with high stools. A unique experience

“great sandwich!”
Reviewed 27 February 2012

While visiting LA, my family and I went to Phillipe's and had a great lunch! It was pretty busy when we got there, but the lines moved pretty quickly. We were worried that we weren't going to be able to find seating (it was counter service) but the place turned out to be huge with plenty of room for everyone.
I had the turkey French Dip and it was amazing.

Note: they only accept cash, and have ATMs available.
