I had tuna tartar as an appetizer. With Linguini as a main. and the banana pie as dessert.
The dessert was awesome.

Our waitress was prompt and kept the tea and the bread coming.

IMHO --This is one of the best three course lunches in Los Angeles for the price.

We booked this restaurant on recommendations from good websites but found it all pretty average. Nothing to complain about in particular but it's just average and the prices are higher than average. Food was not particularly well presented or interesting so we left a bit disappointed

Second time in Joe's, this time for dinner. The first time was a lunch date and was enjoyable, hence our return visit. This time it was like a different restaurant altogether.
There was no valet parking , the streets are dark and the area did not feel safe. We had to find our own parking spot in the rain. Our specially reserved table was given to someone else even though we were on time, so we were sat in a shabby part of the rear end of the restaurant. The tables are on the small size . The roof was leaking rain water in several places. Some diners were forced to move and be seated elsewhere. We ordered cocktails and asked for bread. The waitress was irritating and refused to bring bread saying she would bring it only when we ordered food. We insisted we wanted some now. She did not bring it. The cocktails arrived and again we reminded her we wanted bread. It still did not come. It took four times, each time more insistent before she asked the waiter to bring bread to our table. The menu is pricey but they have a prix fixe at around $35.00 for 3 courses. Two of us chose the prix fixe which came with either a curried cauliflower soup or a salad of sorts. Both dishes were awful. My main was a thai dish, quite OK but my three fellow diners did not enjoy their entrees. Two were a chicken with mushroom risotto swimming in a plate of jus with burned and bitter brussel sprouts. The desserts that came with the prix fixe were kiddie portion sizes, ideal sizes for 2 year olds. The wines are expensive with prices around $45 upwards. All in all the evening was a waste of time and money. Never again.

We had the charcuterie, fish tacos and chocolate ganache. The tacos were good, and the charcuterie was saved by the foie gras. Didn't love the bread that was served with the charcuterie. The ganache was very rich and came recommended.

We are sitting in the patio area, munching on the complimentary brioche and olive tapinard. This is our second visit after a brunch visit last week. Lunch is amazing at 23 bucks for a wonderful 3 course meal. Being a Brit, the Turbodog brown ale washes down with the food fantastically. The missus is slurping the watermelon champagne spritzer.
This is a must munch for any visitors to the Venice Beach area. If you overeat on the great food, then a walk up Kinney past the clothes shops towards the canals is a great wander.
Anyway, 10/10 for the experience.
