First of all I must say this hotel is not for everyone,it has no elevator, pool, breakfast etc,but what it has is charm you cant hardly find today at any price. The building is great and the lobby is amazing, when I walked in,I felt I was back in 1927,the room was very clean and the staff was great, they went out of there way to meet all our needs and the best part, with a smile. And you could see Griffith Park and the Hollywood sign from our bedroom. The price was right and it has free parking. We will be back

Room Tip: get a room facing the street on melrose, you can see the Hollywood sign

I have read many reviews in my time and decided not too listen to them and it has proven that i was right to follow my instinct...until now!

I am writing this as i am sitting in one of the hotel rooms... I arrived in los Angeles about an hour ago and checked in... Firstly the hotel does smell...the carpets are horrid and dirty and the location is terribly intimidating... The lift doesn't work...the room is noisy dirty and the bed is horrible and so are the pillows... The member of staff on is sort of helpful but this does not make up for the terrible...everything!

I am meant to stay here for 10 nights however i have just cancelled the 9 so i am only staying for 1 and haven't even got another hotel booked yet... This is how bad it is!!!!

I hope people listen to this review and not make the same mistake i did...

NEVER STAY HERE!!!

This hotel was just perfect for 2 nights after such bussy days in universal Studios and Six Flags.
Michael from the front desk was so friendly and helpful, he even recommend us Places to visit and deliverys, he was great.
Parking was included so that was an extra

I really wanted to make the best out of this hotel and like it, but all in all it wasn't that great.

It is very old and outdated. The improvements that were made was done as cheaply as possible. The mattress was cheap and flimsy. Very similar to what you would find at one of those furniture rental places. The room anemities were near zero. No extra pillows, no inroom telephone, and no central air unit. There is a window unit ac and in room dorm style fridge. Cable TV is ok.
Carpet is dated outdoor turf style. Walls were painted over sheet rock where you could see the tape showing through. I have numerous bites from insects. I suspect bed bugs.

There is no elevator, and you have to nego 4 sets of stairs to get to the 2nd floor. Front staff were nice and do the best with what they have. Parking was good. The hotel location is at the edge of Thai town. It is kinda poor and run down. Attractions are roughly 5 miles away so you will need a car or taxi. The cafe downstairs and next door is good.

I would stick with a chain hotel next time. Santa Monica is clean and beautiful. Will probably stay there.

Room Tip: Do not get a hollywood sign view! Room are too loud!

I saw this hotel in a forum and decided to stay here. Good free parking out the back and the location was great, so close to everything. The price was fantastic, about $112AU at the time. The room and bathroom was clean, I would definately recommend this place for a budget traveller
