“For a motel in LA, good value”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

The good: pricing - can't be beat, hospitality - front desk and housekeeping very friendly, renovation - nicely painted rooms, new carpet and redone (small) baths, linens/towels - clean and changed daily, free parking but also convenient to subway.
Not so good: the outside of the motel is drab as is the front office (kind of feels like you're visiting a prisoner or going to a mental hospital with its desk behind sliding window), walls are thin, pressboard furniture worn around the edges, windows are old so noise travels easily, heat/air con unit lowd so not really usable when sleeping
Overall: the management/owners seem to be making consistent improvements and if the furniture is updated, windows are changed, aircon/heat updated and front office redone this will be an incredible deal. They could even raise the price somewhat if they do that!

The hotel has free parking and is a block from the subway, which we took to Universal City (tip: the subway tickets have an expiration time, so only buy them one-way). There is a grocery store, a jamba juice and a starbucks practically next store and a drugstore on the corner. There are many inexpensive and tasty Thai restaurants in a couple of blocks.

The courtyard echos sounds, so it is a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper. We were able to walk around the neighborhood in the early evening without feeling threatened, but we did see beggers and drunks and there were sirens during the night. The hotel has bars on the first floor windows.

Our room had a clean shower, but no tub. There is a hot tub and pool in the courtyard, open 9am-9pm.

We stayed at this motel for three nights. We chose it because of free parking and the neiborghood. It's close to the subway.
It was not a close as we expect from the Chinese theatre but you can take the subway.
Our room was clean and quiet enough. We enjoy the hot tub too. The service was very welcoming.
Overall, this motem is good for the price we pay, especially in LA.

A slightly run-down but clean and safe budget hotel, practically next door to the Western metro station on an unfashionable part of Hollywood Boulevard.

I loved this hotel. It was clean, convenient, the staff is wonderful. Do not let the location or the front of the hotel discourage you. It is very safe as anyone that goes in has to be buzzed in not just anyone can walk through the place. Again I loved it, and I am grossed out by dirty places. This was anything but that it is perfect.
