We've been to Italy many times, and this is one of the most authentic trattorias we've been to...in the menu, in the atmosphere, and in the service. We were greeted warmly by the owner, who was from Rome, and indulged my attempts at speaking Italian with her. The menu was different that most standard Italian restaurants, which offer the same 3 or 4 pastas with the same 3 or 4 sauces, and the same selection of chicken, veal, or fish with the same 3 or 4 toppings. The appetizers, pastas, and secondi were creative and unique, while still being authentic to the Italian kitchen. I believe all dishes are made in-house and no microwaves are used. Other reviewers who commented on portion sizes, should realize that in Italy the portions are pretty similar to those at Vino & Cucina. A pasta course alone was never meant to be large enough to feed a hungry man at dinner. They are a first course, to be preceded by appetizers and followed by a meat course. Or they may be eaten as a single course at lunch. See my photos to believe that portion sizes are not skimpy at all. We ate so well at dinner, in fact, that we had to share a dessert. It was a house made Napoleon with fresh berries. We were so enamored of the place that we returned the following night for dessert. The cannoli were great, but my favorite was the chocolate gelato. I wasn't impressed with the custard in the profiterole, but the chocolate sauce on top was first rate (not Hershey's syrup either!) By the way, try a half carafe of the house red wine. It was wonderful, as was the Italian sauvignon blanc (which I don't recall the name of). The prices were reasonable, especially for California. This trattoria will be on our list every time we go to Long Beach. Parking is easy and free on the street, with an extra free lot behind the building. They have a pizzeria and gelato store next door, but it was not open the evening we were there. It was busy on Friday and Saturday night, so you may want to make a reservation so you won't be disappointed. Buon appetito!

Vino & Cucina is a jewel. It is family operated. The founders emigrated from Italy and the wife still runs the restaurant. Its Italian roots are evident in the menu and the preparation of the dishes. An even greater treat is that special requests are graciously accepted. They can make whatever you want, however you want it.

Service is very good. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. A meal at Vino & Cucina is very enjoyable.

The family that owns & works this restaurant are from Italy and regularly visit to update their menu. This is NOT a pizza joint. We find the portions just right...never feel over stuffed when we leave and always have room for their great desserts. A nice choice of wines from Italy, too. The service is personal and they will explain all preparations to you if asked. Food to die for...the appetizer of stuffed artichokes with a reduction sauce of balsamic vinegar ... yummmm.

We just held my sister's engagement dinner at this restaurant last weekend. They have a side room that is excellent for a party of 30. We worked with the owner, Roberta to select our dinner entrees. She was very easy to work with and gave great suggestions. The dinner consisted of 2 appetizers, spinach salad, either veggie pasta, salon linguine or chicken. The wine flowed all evening and the bread baskets were replenished as needed. The service was great too, very attentive and took care of all the details. We did take our own champagne just because they do not offer any. We have been eating at Vino & Cucina since they opened many years ago and each dinner is better and better.
