We enjoyed a short Dartmoor break in a Studio Lodge. There was snow and rain outside but we were very cosy. We have stayed here many times before but this was a first for the studio lodge and everything was up to the high standard we have come to expect from Harford Bridge

On our 2nd visit to Harford Bridge during storm Brian, we were the only people brave enough to camp.

This camp site is a real gem, it has great facilities and the kids love it, top of the list of things to do is building dams and searching for gold on the river banks. There is actually gold in the river if you search hard enough.

The pub, the Peter Tavy Inn is a great place to eat and the Paneer Market in Tavistock is also worth a visit.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September 2017 and had a wonderful stay. The pitches are very big and lovely green grass which was a surprise considering the amount of bad weather the previous weeks. The site was fully booked but you would'nt know it as there is so much space.

The facilities are very modern and super clean, indeed the pet shower was cleaner than most i have experienced for us humans at other campsites!!, my 4 year old son loved cleaning our labrador there, they even provide the pet soap!.

The shop has most things you may need to top up with and well stocked with ice cream and sports equipment for the kids, the prices are very good, nice fresh bread and pasties cooked to order too.

There is a small catering van on site , the food is yummy, the meat is delivered daily by a local butcher and of high quality.

The outdoor activity park is a good size and great to keep the kids busy for hours. The river also provides hours of fun too, remember to bring there wetsuits though, a bit chilly!.

We will definitely be returning next year , my kids can't wait!,

Every time we stay in our touring van, we come away reluctantly, having had such a peaceful, hassle free experience. All the staff are so helpful, considerate & nothing is too much trouble. Booking in/out is so straightforward & we never tire of the refreshing views. Even at height of season, the site is well ordered & we have never had any issues with having to queue for the toilets/shower (which has to be said, are some of the best kept we have come across on our travels)! Well done to the Team 7 look forward to our October stay with you.

We had a very bad experience with the staff at this site over pitch allocation. Eventually the pitches were sorted but in doing so a £10 charge for a phone call was added to my son's bill and the reasons by the management regarding this incident were inconsistent. The touring side of this site is quite large, spread over several fields and is more suitable to tents and caravans than motorhomes as it is mainly laid out to grass. As there are pitches with long runs from the narrow roads this could be difficult in wet weather. The nearest town is Tavistock, a 3 mile walk along A386. The village of Peter Tavy is 1 mile walk uphill along a narrow road but worth a visit. Toilet block is large enough normally but when the site is full you have to queue for showers and the water runs cold. Personally it is not a site I would recommend for motorhomes. Also the manager could do with a course in customer care.

Dear Jan
Thank you for your review. We are sorry about your bad experience over pitch allocation. The reasons why it happened are covered in this reply.

We recall the encounters with you and your adult family as mutually unhappy experiences. The first encounter was initiated by your son not checking-in at Reception before pitching adjacent to your pitch. At that point it became a difficult situation to manage without causing upset to someone.

The situation could have been avoided if, when booking your pitches, one or other of your party had asked us for the pitches to be together. Our Terms and Conditions do not guarantee a particular pitch unless we confirm it in writing, which we did not in the case of the either pitch booked. We would have been pleased to have fulfilled a request to co-locate as we routinely do this for many guests and allocate adjacent pitches as “with friends / family”. If guests tell us in advance what is wanted we usually meet their expectations as we can usually arrange co-location.

So, your bad experience started from not telling us in advance what you wanted, but even more unfortunately, it did not end there ….

It was explained to your son when he checked-in, and after pitching, that he had occupied a pitch allocated to another guest. He mentioned then for the first time that he wanted to pitch next to family.

We immediately undertook to try and re-allocate the other guest but needed all parties to co-operate. We asked your son to return to Park Reception after an hour while we sorted things out. Although we successfully negotiated with the other guest, your son did not come back to Reception as requested. The £10.00 administrative charge was to cover time spent handling the matter as well as finding your son much later in the day to inform him he could stay put. The charge was disputed and was never paid. We did not pursue the matter as, by then, an unhappy relationship existed between us after having fulfilled your family holiday expectations.

Your other comments are helpful and informative and we thank you for them.
