Just spent 3 nights at Hotel Healdsburg. It could not have been better. The rooms were great. The staff was phenomenal. They were knowledgeable and very helpful. Teaghan the concierge was super - when we said Pinot Noir - she knew 8 wineries off the top of her head. From the minute you walk in the staff is right there to make your trip fabulous. Check out Wine Road, they make tastings easy and fun with their events.
This hotel's location could not be better. The town has over 15 tasting rooms, all steps away from this hotel's location.

Room Tip: we paid a little more for a small suite, but make sure you ask for the larger suites (over by 315) , as the other people in our party booked a suite and got a suite that was 20% smaller than our room.

I love this hotel! The rooms are sophisticated, well-appointed and so comfortable. I love the big bathtub and the bed is to die for. I also love the very ample breakfast. I was especially excited that on my recent visit they had a wellness weekend. We took advantage of the Sunday bootcamp at the Quivara winery. It was wonderful. The instructor from Live Fit was great -- very thorough and the workout was lots of fun. The setting was beautiful and it was a great way to recharge for the new year. The best part -- the included wine tasting and cheese platter afterward. Somewhat defeats the purpose of the workout but who cares... I highly recommend Hotel Healdsburg.

I'll be very honest and state upfront that this was our first get away post baby. We even had the guts to bring the baby with us. Crazy, I know.

The hotel was wonderful and very accommodating, even providing a pack 'n play for the room. Of course the abject looks of horror on people's faces as we passed them in the hall did damper our excitement. For the record, there were two other infants at the hotel the same nights, so we weren't the only crazy ones. :-)

This was our second visit to the hotel. Rooms are nicely appointed. Linens and mattress are comfortable. Breakfast is included (you're certainly paying for it, but still a nice perk), and while it's a buffet, it's pretty extensive. Options were yogurt, freest fruit, toast, muffins, bagels, lox and condiments, eggs, sausage, juice, tea, and coffee. The lady who was bussing tables was fabulous! She was so busy taking care of everyone, cleaning tables, and was so sweet making sure everyone was happy!

You MUST get a room with a soaking tub. It can fit both of you and it's heavenly. It's absolutely worth the extra $. I love the tiles and poured concrete sounders. I do not love the fact that the shower has no door... Water really got all over the floor.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with soaker tub.

Hotel Healdsburg is a world of contradictions. The hotel staff is friendly and unpretentious, but you can’t get a crumb of service from the restaurant in the late afternoon. The lobby lounge is cushy and cozy, but the dust bunnies inhabiting the fireplace demonstrate a serious lack of detail in the cleaning process. Morning breakfast thoughtfully includes to-go cups (along with a plethora of sweetening options) for the enthusiastic caffeine addict, but the “hot” buffet breakfast itself is limp, highly repetitive, and concludes with a request for a tip.

These contradictions leave the guest confused and conflicted. How can a hotel have such great attention to detail in staffing and in the creation of a truly welcoming space downstairs, but not follow through on the overall quality and the finesse that would befit a hotel of this stature?

Ultimately, our least favorite aspect of Hotel Healdsburg was the room itself. The color palette is pleasing and the bed fluffy beyond all belief, but the space was not inviting or intimate. Poor acoustic isolation (especially noticeable for rooms overlooking Healdsburg Avenue) means every big rig trolling through Healdsburg drives right through your room. The bathroom is so big and cold that it feels vaguely penitentiary: there is no soft rug to protect your feet from the cold tile, no high-tech shower jet to bathe you with warmth, no bathtub for a relaxing weekend soak, and, most confusingly of all, no lid on the toilet…

Other pros: Evening jazz is occasionally offered live in the lounge/bar. The outdoor spaces call for glasses of bubbly and a good book anytime but the dead of winter. And the staff: they are the lifeblood keeping alive a hotel that seems to have lost its touch.

Other cons: Extremely lackluster mini-bar options, including a refrigerated can of Pringles.

Verdict: Balance is required in a Sonoma wine… and is just as indispensable in a Sonoma hotel.

This hotel is modern and beautiful and has the friendliest staff I've ever seen at an American hotel. The room is comfortable with great bathroom amenities (giant soaking tub, toiletries from the spa, glass shower). The only downside in the bathroom is the lack of glass around the shower so that water gets all over the bathroom floor. The HH has a beautiful heated pool surrounded by fruit trees and other landscaping and it has an awesome spa. I highly recommend the hotel and the spa as a great way to relax.
